Daily Update, July 22, 2025

On Tuesday before breakfast, I called my doctor's office to tell them the symptoms that bothered me the day before and over the past weekend. Then after breakfast my relief nurse said he'd found someone to pick up any medication for me as long as they could get it before lunch. Just after he said that, my doctor's office called to tell me what medication they were prescribing. I warned them we needed it by lunch. They promised they'd already sent it. So, I called the pharmacy and warned them we'd need it before lunch, apologizing for the rush order. They promised it would be ready. the owner of the nursing company brought it over later in the morning. {Smile}

I missed my creative writing class. I felt that getting the thing with my doctor and medicine settled while staying close to the plumbing was desirable. Also, I didn't do any exercise, but I hope to be back to Zumba Gold late Wednesday afternoon, and I did get a full 1 1/2 hours of line dancing the day before. {Smile}

Around calling my doctor and getting the medicine, I browsed the web, played Cross Stitch World, and read web comics until lunch. After lunch, I wrote up Monday's daily update. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and made sure some paperwork was done an most characters played recently, as well as one I wanted to play in the teen supergroup. She's a human mage who feels less like a bully target than the halfling I've been playing in our meetings. The group seemed to like her. We did a player-made story arc by a player new to making these. We were helping local Nazis against Nazis from a different dimension. It seemed odd to help Nazis and is really not sitting well with me now. It seems like all too good a character study of how basically decent people can get drawn into groups doing things that aren't at all good. However, that's what they wrote, and in support of a new writer, that's what we did. The first mission couldn't complete, so we went out, and they changed the goals. We completed it the second time and did a few more missions right into dinnertime, with one more mission to go after we completed the one that I was doing when I was first called

I left to eat dinner anyway and got back in time to help them complete it without rushing through my dinner. After the mission, we roleplayed for quite a while, with folks heading off to bed as they got tired. Then I started these notes. Dennis and I talked a bit during the roleplaying, as did Dr. Faustus and me. I got together with Dennis and Kitten afterwards. Dennis was working on a badge that improves the character a good bit that my new supergroup member needs, too. We picked a mission fighting those steampunk racists with both soldiers and robots. We set it for quickest results, even though that was hard, and ran it twice without quite completing it either time, so we could reset it and do it again. Dennis got the badges he wanted the second time through, and I made good progress, but need at least one more time. Then we talked before Dennis left for bed. After that, Kitten helped me with a different badge that improves the character less, and I got it. Then we ran three missions against the mafia, completing a contact of mine. I tried to test the change to my character and proved that the mafia just isn't as hard for us to fight as the steampunk racists. Then I finished my notes in this, with a little web browsing. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 21, 2025

On Monday, my relief nurse took me to my First Timer's Line Dancing class. There, I learned that they aren't at a different location next week like they thought they would be. I also had a really fun class, though our teacher was out. Some of the students took over, mainly a fellow I think I'm getting acquainted with. That class was my main exercise. After class, a gal and I waited for my relief nurse. She wanted to tell him about next week's venue change. He was late, but when he got there, she told him. So that should be settled. {Smile}

Then I went with my relief nurse to run an errand, but his truck broke down on the way. He said I should call Uber, and have them take me home, but they tried to charge me over $50 for a trip that's usually around $20. Then they cut it back to closer to $45, but I wanted a better option. I checked Lyft. They were willing to take me for only $20 if I waited 15-30 minutes with a warning that waits were long. So don't count on either, especially the short one. I called Alan next, since he gave me his number if I wanted to arrange a ride without Uber or Lyft. He was picking someone up but could come after that. It was still a fairly long wait. My relief nurse wanted me to travel with the secretary of the nursing company, who he'd called, but I was looking forward to seeing Alan by that point. It's been months since I've seen him. The wait was longer than I hoped, but he did come and get me eventually... just as the secretary go there to help our relief nurse, actually. Alan took me straight home, and sure enough, we caught up with each other on the way. {Smile}

I got myself a late lunch when I got home. I was still eating when the gal who's helping me through the Daughters of the King discernment came. We had a good visit, and a good session, too, getting through another chapter. She left not long before my relief nurse came back after dealing with both the errands and the tow truck. Yes, his truck is in the shop now. They hope they'll fix it soon but make no promises. {Smile}

Next, I worked quite a while at trying to set up autopay for my cell phone, either on the phone or online. Eventually, I gave up but managed to pay this month's bill. That gives me a grace period to get autopay worked out. {Smile}

After that, I fixed up my pills for the week. I don't usually mention it, but usually I have time to do it sooner than late Monday afternoon. After that, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and worked on paperwork until dinner. I chatted with Dennis on Discord, the chat server I use, while doing the paperwork. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote up Sunday's daily update and read quite a few web comics. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and worked on paperwork until Dr. Faustus said hi. I found out that he was doing a story arc my younger Hobbit - the teen supergroup member - has been wanting to do. We started to catch me up. Kitten joined us after a couple of missions. About the time I caught up, Phonso invited us to a taskforce. We finished the mission we'd just started before we teamed up with him. Then we ran the taskforce with the team Phonso recruited. Then the others left, including Phonso, and Kitten, Dr. Faustus and I finished the story arc we'd been working on before the taskforce. After that, Dr. Faustus and I roleplayed my character asking about his character's backstory while I made notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 20, 2025

On Sunday, in the wee hours of the morning, I actually got to bed only a little later than my target time. Then I got up on target time, despite failing to remember to reset the alarm until it was entirely too late. So, I just rested and checked the clock often until it was time to get up. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me to church. We got there shortly before the prayers of the people, and the service ended not long after that because we didn't have communion. I'm happy that I got to sit with Auntie Barbara and my main nurse. Afterwards, I had lunch on the lanai. I ate the main course with my main nurse and some other parishioners. including BJ, and older woman whom I'm getting closer to through Daughters of the King. Then I had dessert with Autie Barbara and some others. I enjoyed talking with her, and them. Next, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

I didn't get any exercise, but between walking around Prince Kuhio Plaza the day before, and my line dancing class expected the next day, I hope to be fine. {Smile}

On my way to and from church, I played Cross Stitch World. Then when I got home, I played some more Cross Stitch World, browsed on the web, and read web comics before I wrote up Saturday's daily update. After that, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and did lots of paperwork. I talked with Pierogies in the game, but he left, promising to come back, rather than ream up just then. So, I continued doing the paperwork. Then I got out the character I hope will get to the end game next. I ran through some talks, and a hunt for mystical, evil carnival show people and aliens from an alternate dimension. Then I did some more paperwork until Pierogies came back. I stopped and we teamed up for talks and a hunt for those Nazis of confused heritage. We ended right at dinnertime. {Smile}

After dinnertime, I browsed on the web and Amazon and made notes in this and played Cross Stitch World before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming.  I worked on paperwork until Dr. Faustus said hi. As we were teaming up, Kitten said hi, and joined us, too. Dr. Faustus and me on the characters who were working in a particularly ravaged part of a post-apocalyptic dimension. We did a couple of missions for a fairly new contact. We fought evil psychics, and possessed soldiers and psychics, and the creatures that possessed them. As we got ready to start another mission, Phonso invited us to the last of those long taskforces based in those surrealistic dimensions. We joined it, as did a friend of Dr. Faustus. who bowed out when his character waws too low-level but came back when I invited him to bring someone higher. We finished the taskforce, and the others left. So, I did more paperwork and made notes in this. Talking with Dr. Faustus on Discord, that chat server I use, filled out the evening. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 19, 2025

 On Saturday before lunch, it was rainy enough, my main nurse took me down to the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens, where I picked out a chocolate fudge popsicle. I ate it on the way to Prince Kuhio Plaza, finishing it before we got there. So, we went right in, mainly to walk around. My one notable stop was at Enjoy Comics. My main nurse was surprised they're still open, but I think I heard that the lease runs out next month, possibly at the end of it. In there I found a few books of interest, including a copy of the beginning of the ElfQuest series. I checked, but the owner said it was the original version, which my parents gave me when I was in high school, and I definitely kept. So, I didn't get it, just a few other things. Then we walked back to the car, for around half an hour of walking. {Smile}

That walk around Prince Kuhio. Plaza was my exercise for the day. {Smile}

On the way out to the ice cream parlor, I played Cross Stitch World. Then I had my popsicle while going over to Prince Kuhio Plaza. I talked with my main nurse and played Cross Stitch World on the way home. When we got back, I browsed on the web and played Cross Stitch World right over lunch. Then I wrote up Friday's daily update before going into City of Heroes: Homecoming to do some paperwork. I broke to clean myself up with the help of my main nurse. Afterwards, I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming for a little more paperwork before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I began making these notes. Then I checked Discord and let a few friends there know I was heading over to City of Heroes: Homecoming, which I did. Soon, Dennis said hi. We teamed up and started to do missions with me on the moderately high-level character I hope to get to the end game next. Rav joined us a mission or two before we finished a contact who kept us fighting that steampunk group with both robots and soldiers. This time all the robots were steampunk; none of them were modern. Next, Dennis left. Rav and I did an individual mission Rav had in the newly complete zone, fighting resistance fighters from an alternate dimension before Rav left too. Soon after that, Dr. Faustus said hi, and I joined him. We roleplayed one of my Hobbits learning that one of his characters is the nephew and adopted son of two other characters of his that she knows. It's nice to realize he has a family of characters. I have a few families like that. Then we started to do the next story arc on that Hobbit, when I remembered he'd had me do something else to get special dialog hen we did this a few months ago on another character. If we help the character in another dimension first, the next contact recognizes me when we meet again, remembering me from before. So, Dr. Faustus and I did that story arc together, and a solo mission follow-up that I had to do alone. After that, Dr. Faustus had to go. I made notes in this and read a few web comics before heading to bed early-for-me in hopes of getting a decent amount of sleep before going to church early tomorrow morning. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 18, 2025

 On Friday, I was slow getting ready, However, my main nurse still got me to my Ballroom: Cha-Cha dance early enough to pay for the quarter before the class actually began. I did manage to watershed the three most basic steps I learned last week. I also attempted to learn the next few steps on my own, but each time, well-meaning women stepped in to dance with me, since I didn't have a partner, we'd do the steps, but not the way the instructor showed, since not a single one of them knew the lead's - usually the man's - steps. They all knew the follow's steps - usually the woman's - but not one knew how to help another follow learn the follow's steps. I got the instructor to show me a couple of times. He knew what to do to get someone who knows how to follow a lead to do the right thing. However, the women "helped" me again just as I was beginning to get the hang of it on my own after he left. One even told me that I need to stop worrying about the steps, and just dance. Great advice... when you're out on the town and dancing socially. When you're in a formal class, trying to learn the basics so you can make things work on the dance floor when you're out on the town... not so much. {sigh}

After class, my main nurse came to pick me up and commented about how few people where there. I thought about it and realized that the instructor switched back and forth between teaching the beginners and the intermediates a couple of times. Each time, some students left. I explained this to the nurse, who still thinks it must not be that fun a class. I tend to agree, not because of that, but because of having 3 or 4 different teachers, each of whom is not doing the same step the same way. That is exhausting and mind numbing to try to sort out when I'm just trying to learn the basics. Still, I'll try to stick it out this quarter. I did suggest -- and my main nurse approves of -- checking out classes at another place next break between the quarters. With three dance classes and creative writing already, I don't think this is the time to take on more. {smile}

I think I did get plenty of exercise at cha-cha, despite getting confused. {Smile}

When we got home from the cha-cha class, I had lunch while I browsed on the web and read web comics. This continued right into the afternoon. Then I chatted on Discord, the chat server I use, before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I did some paperwork before going to the villain supergroup meeting. When I got there, they quickly decided to run a high-level taskforce that my moderately high-level member can run. The taskforce's leader recruited a few more to fill the team, and we ran it together. Then they broke up, and I wrote up and shared Thursday's daily update before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I browsed on the web and read web comics. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I did a little paperwork, and soon I teamed up with Kitten to finish a story arc and most of the rest of a contact my teen supergroup member had. The story arc and other missions mostly dealt with a group of evil cultists, and occasionally a different group of evil cultists that they both compete and cooperate with. Phonso joined us for most of it, which was great. My adopted cousin Radio joined the team, but just to more safely scout out locations to use as models in his art. A lower-level toon couldn't go as many places without being teamed to someone higher. After a while he left. Phonso, Kitten and I continued to team until Phonso left around the end of that contact. Kitten and I continued with a second contact, this one concerned with a local mafia family. We even started on a story arc involving that mafia family. Then kitten admitted to being tired and went quiet. I relaxed with paperwork an browsing the web. Then I tried to write a proposal for a different character to play in the teen supergroup for Ulty to consider. I finished the evening making notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 17, 2025

 On Thursday, right after breakfast, I had my first counselling session in about a month, because that's almost how long my counsellor's vacation lasted. It went well. She helped me process the bullying a little better, among other stuff. {Smile}

Then in the afternoon, my main nurse took me to my doctor. He went over my blood tests with us, showing how the numbers are hanging pretty steady. Some went up a little, but nothing alarming, he assured us. He is very happy with how I'm doing. After that, we picked up some prescriptions and groceries at Safeway before my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

My only exercise was some walking at the doctor's and Safeway, but I think that's enough. Between Zumba Gold the day before, and ballroom dance; cha-cha the day after, I think I can afford a light day. {Smile}

After counselling, I browsed on the web and played Cross Stitch World. Then I took some migraine medicine before I had lunch, browsing the web some more while I ate. After lunch, I lay down for a short nap before going to my doctor because the night before was late again. After we got back, I browsed the web some more. and read some web comics. Then my main nurse helped me clean myself up before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote up Wednesday's daily update, with breaks to read a few more web comics. Then I chatted a little on the chat server (I use Discord) before going into City of Heroes: Homecoming. There I quickly met Dennis. We tried to get together with Dr. Faustus and succeed in getting together with Phonso. We did some missions with the steampunk army that has automatons both steampunk and modern. Some of the missions were Dennis's, and one might have been mine. Then Phonso and Dennis left, and I talked with Ulty and Jenny's player as they were leaving for the night. After that, I got together with Dr. Faustus, who helped me with another story arc my moderately low-level villain had, involving competing with other villains. Then Dr. Faustus and I chatted about future plans before we started another story arc. In this one, I talked with the former competitors and other up and coming villains while investigating a guy who was converting them into heroes surprisingly - and suspiciously - effectively. One of the big villains had hired me to investigate his operation. I did so while wearing protection against psychic control, which I got confirmation that he was trying to use. After the first mission of that story arc, we said goodnight, and I wrote this up with breaks for chatting on Discord and browsing on the web. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 16, 2025

On Wednesday, I was feeling kind of blah except for being upset about the talk of the "fun" of bullying my teen supergroup member and other characters because they were small and cute the night before. So, I thought about that and browsed the internet through the morning, and right through lunch and into the afternoon. Finally, I took a nap a while after lunch - longer than I meant, but this nurse insisted I needed it. I did feel a little better as I woke up. Then I browsed on the web a little more. I finally felt up to going into City of Heroes: Homecoming, but not to really play yet. I just made a new costume for a character I've been thinking about more since the bullying encounter. {smile}

Then I got going just in time for my main nurse to get me down to my Zumba Gold class very slightly early. The class went well. Afterwards, he took me back home, praising me for making the effort to go when it's been obviously a bad day. I was a bit surprised he noticed, considering it involved mostly looking at the computer, which good days do, too. {Smile}

When we got home, I had dinner before I got back onto my computer. There, I browsed the web and wrote up Tuesday's daily update. Then I checked and answered stuff on the chat server before I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started by tweaking that costume some more. Then I said hi to Ulty and Jenny's player, and talked with Ulty about the bullying, and about wanting to give the teen supergroup member a break. I also suggested that I could try another character, who I'd just finished making a new costume for. She'll check the costume out another time. It's technically mage robes, not a superhero costume. She wants everyone to have superhero costumes, though my current character is exempted from that rule. I certainly don't know what do make as a costume that suits her background more than her regular clothes. Anyway, we'll see if this other character's new mage robes are close enough to a costume for her. Then Dr. Faustus said hi. I told him about the bullying as we teamed up. We did two contacts, with three story arcs between them, all on my moderately low villain supergroup member and his main character in the same supergroup. They were my mission; I think the character he used is pretty much done with first time content. Then I worked up these notes, with breaks for browsing the web and playing Cross Stitch World. I also chatted with Kitten on the chat server before going to bed a bit late. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 15, 2025

 After breakfast, my relief nurse took me down to the monthly meeting, which was again a picnic. I enjoyed seeing everyone and telling them about my new classes. That turned into an announcement when I tried to tell the leader. {Smile}

My relief nurse came early to pick me up and take me to creative writing. where I had to admit I'd done everything except the requested writing.  I also misunderstood the assignments. and felt more than a little uncomfortable with the emphasis on memoirs. Fiction is officially allowed, but memoirs are taught. That's awkward for me as a fiction writer. Afterwards, my relief nurse came and took me home. {Smile}

After dinner, I got a call from Auntie Barbara. It was nice to hear from her and talk with her as well. {Smile}

When I got back from the trip out, I had lunch. Then I browsed on the web before going into City of Heroes: Homecoming a bit before the supergroup meeting. I pretty badly messed up during that meeting. To his and my disappointment, Dr. Faustus is unlikely to join the group because of a situation I caused without meaning to, but that doesn't change much. I did begin to learn what I'd done wrong through talking with the leader on the chat server. Eventually, Dr. Faustus left, and I followed him. We roleplayed, then started my character on a long series of story arcs in a very messed up part of an alternate dimension. Dr. Faustus and I stopped mid-mission when he suggested doing so, so I could go eat dinner.

After dinner, I learned more about what I did wrong. I also wrote up Monday's daily update with few breaks and began chatting with Nox on the chat server. This continued occasionally through much of the evening. I want into City of Heroes: Homecoming and got back together with Dr. Faustus to continue the mission. Dennis joined us, and we finished the mission more easily. Then we continued the story line into the next arc. Kitten and Pierogies joined us too, and we did the next story arc, the one after that, and much of the one after that, though folks left at various points in the last two arcs. Pierogies left first, then Dennis. Then Kitten faded out. Then Dr. Faustus suggested ending, and we did. I meant to do only a little paperwork, but I ran into a stranger who complimented my character, liking the look and the connection to Middle Earth in its background, which was fine. I even mentioned my other Hobbit, and my gnomes. However, he then proceeded to talk about how fun it would be to bully such cute little characters, which was pretty uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable enough I kept at the paperwork long after he left as a way to cool down and haven't been feeling like myself since. I have too many memories of bad bully problems for this to sit well. Eventually, I made notes in this, with a small break for Cross Stitch World. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 14, 2025

On Monday before breakfast, a major search for the handouts for my Creative Writing class eventually found them in a folder after I'd looked a fair while. I also found the supplies the teacher asked for, which I put with them. So that was ready for the writing class, though I didn't fit in the type of writing I thought they wanted.

After breakfast, my relief nurse took me to Hilo Daijingu for my line dancing class. That was fun. A few of the folks who teach a dance or are better dancers complimented me on my dancing, which was great. I feel like I'm starting to get the dances. Afterwards, my relief nurse took me home again. {Smile}

Then a while after lunch the gal came for the Daughters of the King discernment a little late. We made good progress, finishing the long chapter that we couldn't finish last time, and doing one more chapter, too. {Smile}

My exercise was line dancing and a few mini-Kegels. That should be good enough. {Smile}

After I got home from line dancing, I had lunch. Then I browsed on the web and played Cross Stitch World until discernment. After discernment, I browsed the web some more. Then I played a little Cross Stitch World before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. Kitten said hi, and we teamed up with me on the character they designed for me, and them on their version of it. We started a mission and were surprised with how much trouble we had at the beginning. Kitten was disappointed to realize they hadn't really fixed up the character like they'd designed. However, Dennis came in and joined us. It was easier with three than with just two. We were surprised it was dinnertime for me when we finished, but okay. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote up Sunday's daily update with Cross Stitch World and browsing the web as breaks. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I teamed up with Kitten, who had a different character with a very similar name, so I didn't realize it was different at first. It was, and easier to play with. We did a story arc built around those high-tech pirates that revealed some links they had that aren't common knowledge. Dennis joined us partway through. Then Phonso invited us to a taskforce near the end, and Rav joined us just as the fighting stopped. After the fighting, I answered Phonso while Dennis and Kitten realized they really needed to sleep and say goodbye. Anhela and I joined Phonso. I tried to get Dr. Faustus to join, but the team filled. Then someone dropped out, and Dr. Faustus took their place. We ran the taskforce. Then Phonso and Dr. Faustus said goodnight, and I got the character that Kitten designed, and did a series of hunts to fight the mafia, the Asian tattoo-loving gang, and those Nazis of confused heritage until I quit to make notes in this with a couple of short breaks, one for Cross Stitch World. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 13, 2025

On Sunday I found a note from Auntie Barbara when I woke up. She explained to my main nurse and me that she wouldn't be in church this week, due to a conflict, but hopes to see us next week. Then after breakfast, my main nurse took me to church. We sat in Dad's parents' pew, since I knew we couldn't sit with Auntie Barbara. It was a nice service. {Smile}

After that, we had lunch. I didn't eat on the lanai with my main nurse, but in the Cook Room with most of the Daughters of the King for their first official monthly meeting. They chose it to get a little more privacy there, though others did come in and out. they talked of trying for an even more private meeting spot next month.

I didn't really do much exercise beyond mini-Kegels, but dance class the next day should make up for that. {Smile}

In the car to and from church, I played Cross Stitch World. After we got back, I greeted housekeeper, who'd started working while we were gone. Then I settled in and played more Cross Stitch World. I also read web comics and browsed on the web. After a while, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming, where I started with paperwork. Then I did that pair of high-level taskforces. They take place in a particularly troubled alternate dimension. After that, I did a taskforce with an awful lot of steampunk robots. Not the robots who work with human soldiers, but a group that's all robots. The taskforce is known for being long and a bit boring, but it was giving special rewards that a character needed, so I did it on him. After that, I did paperwork until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote up Saturday's daily update, with a break to answer Nox on the chat world, since I'd forgotten to the day before. Then I started notes in this and answered Nox for today. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and started with paperwork. After a while, Phonso said hi. I reached a half decent pause in the paperwork and joined him in a different taskforce in a similar surrealistic alternate dimension to the one last week. I finished more paperwork while starting the taskforce, then concentrated on it. Or rather, I tried to concentrate on it while also trying to keep up with a conversation between Dennis and Kitten on the chat server. I also said goodnight to Nox on the chat server. After the taskforce in a surrealistic dimension, Phonso did a strike force where you help a villain get a powerful magic item. Dr. Faustus joined it too. We ran it with a full team. Then the taskforce broke up, and Phonso left. Dr. Faustus and I got together, and I switched to my moderately low-level villain. We ran several missions where we helped a manager in a villain organization investigate a mad scientist he was assigned to help. He needed someone to investigate on the sly to give himself and us plausible deniability if the wrong folks found out about the investigation. We stopped just before a timed mission. After that, I did some paperwork and made notes in this. {Smile}
