Daily Update, April 14, 2026

The night before Tuesday, I got to bed just about at 2 am - so close I'm not entirely sure if it was before or after, though barely after seems likely... like maybe a minute or less. I got up at 9 am like usual and didn't notice too much tiredness or anything. {Smile}

After breakfast, my substitute relief nurse took me out. First, we tried to find a vet for her sick puppy. They first didn't take pets, so I recommended Valentine's Vet. She tried, but they don't take walk-in appointments. I suggested she make an appointment, in case she can't find anything else. She did, after dropping me off at Kamana Senior Center. She also picked up some over-the-counter medicine and is trying that in the meantime. I hope the dog makes it. {smile}

I arrived shortly before class began. the teacher is introducing something new: one-on-one while we do our small groups. I signed up for today, because I specifically wanted to talk about how to take the story I'm working on. I could do a picture book for younger kids, or a chapter book for older kids... I should have foreseen her answer: she thinks "my own story" is far more powerful than any fiction. She wants me to write about my own snow experiences. I don't see it that way, but she is really teaching us to write memoirs, so of course she wants to see me do a memoir. Maybe I should, but those other stories should be written, too. Anyway, after my class, my substitute relief nurse came and took me home. {Smile}

My housekeeper came, as did her husband. He worked outside, while she cleaned up inside. the house is very much better for their attentions. While I was paying my housekeeper and her husband, I started looking for some books to show her. I found three quickly, but I own seven. A little later, I spotted one near my computer. and found two more under it. That leaves one, which is my favorite in the collection. Worse, they're kind of irreplaceable. I could buy new copies, but these were personally autographed by the author, who has since died. A replacement copy would not have the personalized autograph. I remind myself that book ought to be around here somewhere. {small smile}

Over breakfast, I read Forward Day by Day. Then, after I got home from my class, I got onto my computer. I browsed videos and read comics. Suddenly, I noticed the time right before my teen supergroup meeting. I dashed in, barely on time, on Aneira, the higher-level teen supergroup member, while checking on my friends who play the game. I arrived in time to hear a character say goodbye for a few months as she tries to start a career with a particular in-game security force. When she left, the player got another character, who joined us. Next, we did the historical taskforce, but I got pulled away to pay the housekeeper and her husband after the first mission. I came back to find I'd missed an entire mission, and probably more, since they spoke of restarting, and began the third mission. I was still distracted but concentrated better once I found three of the missing books during the third mission. I was more present for the end of that mission, and for the last mission. of the taskforce. After that, the group shifted to roleplaying that went right up to dinner. I left Aneira sleeping, but noticed characters were leaving after that. I read a novel during dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I found the teen supergroup had disbanded. I checked on my friends who play the game. Then I worked on the in-game auction house, storage, and crafting on Aneira. Next, I watched some videos before I began writing more of Monday's daily update, taking breaks to read some comics. After that, I barely began this before going back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Dr. Faustus and Seb said hi. I teamed up with Dr. Faustus on the melee-ranged Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member. Seb joined us, and the three of us finished the last villain story arc and contact she has at that level, despite Dr. Faustus disconnecting twice in not many missions, both times as he left a mission. So, he left after the story arc, which was the end of the contact anyway. Seb left at the same time, since it was late. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Olga. Then I made sure Aneira was done. I wrote some more in this, then collected some badges on my 9th best badge collector, who's just reclaiming that rank. Next, I wrote some more in this before switching to making notes while checking other ranked badge collectors. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}
