Daily Update, August 15, 2026

The night before Saturday, I got to bed only a few minutes after 2 am. That's significantly better than the previous night, but I still missed even my first bedtime goal. At least this time I got a nap in the afternoon. It was slightly shorter than usual, but I got up when I felt rested out. {Smile}

Not long after that nap, the power went out. We blame the winds of Hurricane Lala. It was in the middle of the afternoon. The modem went out, too, and my phone only found the internet occasionally. I drained it so dry it wouldn't turn on by late evening. I was just trying to let friends know that nothing worse was wrong than a power failure. At least I succeeded with Nox, Radio, Haiden, Kitten, Pierogies, Dennis, and Shepherd. As night fell, I couldn't see the glow of the town below us from the living room. I thought I did later, and even showed my main nurse, but we think it was moonlight finally coming out as the clouds thinned. This power failure was pretty widespread. The power was still out when I went to bed. {smile}

I ate breakfast with my main nurse, his TV, and Forward Day by Day. I tried to start _Overgeared 3_ but gave up. Then I went onto my computer. I mainly read web comics, articles and short videos, right through lunch. Then I tried to write Friday's daily update. As I struggled to concentrate, I realized that I really needed a nap. So, I took one. After my nap, I went back onto my computer. I wrote some of Friday's daily update until the power went out about a paragraph in. I tried to continue, but the modem went out with the power, so I couldn't save. So, I shifted to the living room, which had the best light on a day made dim by Hurricane Lala. I free wrote about journalling for my Creative Writing Class. I mainly told about these daily updates, since they're most of the journalling I do these days. I finished shortly before dinner. {Smile}

I ate with my main nurse and restarted _Brigands and Breadknives_ by Travis Baldree after I determined that comics like manga (Japanese) and manhwa (Korean) are hard to read by camping lantern while eating. I continued reading it there for over an hour after dinner, pausing to message friends on Discord, and accidentally eating almost all the power on my phone's battery. My phone just kept trying until the messages went out, which took quite a while in some cases. Then I moved to the living room, where I wrote Saturday's daily update up to this point. I also talked to my main nurse, especially when I spotted a glow in the sky. I thought it was the glow of the town but later realized it was probably moonlight finally piercing the cloud cover. If it had been the town lights, that would have said they were beginning to restore power. I also read more of _Brigands and Breadknives_ by Travis Baldree and added to this. Next, I discovered that comics aren't bad to read by camping lantern, as long as the camping lantern is closer to the book, and both are closer to the reader than dinner really allows. I read _The Savior's Book Cafe Story in Another World 3_, actually finishing it. I read most of the comic, and a text-only short story at the end. After that, I wrote one short scene to start a new story for my creative writing class. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 14, 2026

The night before Friday, I got to bed a little before 2:15. That's a pretty bad failure of all bedtime goals these days, but I blame moving more slowly after the dental appointment. I still notice it a little, though I am recovering. {smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my Ballroom Dance Class. I answered stuff on Discord and in my personal texts, then played a little Cross Stitch World on my way down. I arrived late and rested more. I still don't have all my energy back. I still found the energy to dance for much of the session. I did warn each partner that I was a little slow as we started, so they wouldn't be surprised. I practiced all the beginner moves, even the shines. I heard about Hurricane Lala in class. It seems to be passing to the south. The heavy rains at the outside edge of such a storm started during class, I think. Since then, we've gotten a fair bit of rain, but not much wind at all. After class, my main nurse took me home. I drowsed on the way, since I was tired between dancing and the late night the night before. {smile}

After lunch, I got out my laptop for my online counselling appointment. I thought it went pretty well. HMSA's system works fine with the laptop, which Carol installed Windows 11 on, so we were able to concentrate on what we wanted to talk about.  {Smile}

After I got back from class, I went onto my computer. I read web comics over lunch, possibly with a short video or two. Then came my counselling session. Next, I finished a novel sample on Amazon. After that, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and straight to my villain supergroup meeting on melee ranged Olga. Patience and Dr, Faustus were already there. Anya, our leader on an alternative character, and the most regular new member came shortly. Dr. Faustus picked a strike force. I checked and found that it was the last strike force Hezabell had never done. So, I ran it on her with them. We ran late, so Dr. Fautus ducked out for a while to go to work but was able to come back for the end so they didn't miss out on the special rewards. After that, the group quickly broke up. Then I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Hezabell until dinner. I ate with my main nurse, his TV, Forward Day by Day, and stayed late to finish _Overgeared 2_. {Smile}

After dinner, I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse, who expressed concern about me. I didn't think I did anything unusual, so I hope it really concern for Lala, which was intensifying from a tropical storm into a hurricane. Then I went back to my computer. I finished Thursday's daily update, with a break for two web comics, and a longer break for two videos. I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming late. I found Kitten, and we teamed up. We did more of the story arc we'd started, but we didn't finish, since we started so late. I checked Cross Stitch World and played a little. I also talked with Kitten about the story arc. Next, I closed windows on my computer. After that, I wrote a little in this and mostly made notes here. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Quick update

I'm sorry that Friday's daily update is late. Hurricane Lala knocked out power between 3pm and 4pm Saturday afternoon, and came back on less than an hour ago, after 11 am Sunday morning. I will work on finishing Friday and copying Saturday, which I got down with pen and paper, but needs to be copied into the computer. Then I'll feel caught up. It's been interesting. {Smile}
