Daily Update, April 24, 2026

The night before Friday, I got to bed just after 2 am again. I tell myself at least it wasn't later, but I'm vaguely disappointed it wasn't before. That's my first goal. Second goal would be 1:45 am, and third goal, 1:30 am. Not sure I need earlier than that. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my ballroom dance class. It went very well. I think I got the last few Beginner's steps down and even told my teacher that I want to look at the earlier intermediate steps soon. It really helped that one student's girlfriend didn't come, so he partnered with me a lot. I also danced with the teacher a few times, including a demonstration where he showed the rest of the class how I "shadow dance," following his lead, including imitating him when that seems appropriate. A few congratulated me on dancing well after the exhibition. I also danced alone when they were both resting. After class, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

Later, checking my phone, I found a note from Sana, a dear friend from graduate school who lives on Maui. She asked me to call her. I did, and we had a nice chat. It was only half an hour, which is short for us, but the voices cut in and out when I was at my computer. At one point, she dropped out, and didn't come back, even when I tried to move to places with better reception. I eventually I hung up and phoned again, and we heard well while I was on the ramp in front of my house. However, when I came back inside to get ready for my villain supergroup meeting, it started cutting in and out again. So, we stopped, saying we'll have to do this again. {Smile}

After class, I got onto my computer. I browsed videos through lunch. Then I wrote up Thursday's daily update before calling Sana. After the phone call, I settled into City of Heroes: Homecoming by doing the weekend in-game auction house. Next, I went to the villain supergroup meeting just on time with melee Olga. I was sure they'd be going, but I was the first one there. I checked Discord to make sure it wasn't cancelled. By the time I got back. Dr. Faustus and our leader were both there. A gal soon came who'd been missing so long, I'm not sure she'd met Olga, or even Hezabell, who's been there longer. Seb came on Marius, too, but our frequent regular was missing. We teamed up and did most of an urban fantasy themed story arc my Olga had. We stopped just before the end because Dr. Faustus and the leader had to go. We can continue next time. Afterwards, I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Olga while talking with Shepherd and Kitten. Then I checked on my friends who play the game, finishing shortly before dinner. During dinner, I read Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

After dinner, I watched a couple of short videos and read a comic before I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. I found Dennis and Kitten helping Shepherd with some badges and joined them. We did several missions, making good progress on a long and difficult badge, at least for my character and Shepherd's. Along the way, a friend of Dennis's joined us. Then Kitten left, needing to rest. Eventually, Dennis and his friend left. Next, Shepherd and I talked. I showed him a couple of tutorials and told him about the sequels to one of them, which are only unlocked when you finish the immediate prequel. Eventually we said goodbye. I wrote a little in this, then broke and checked Cross Stitch World. Then I made notes in this, taking a few short breaks. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King.

Sana suggested sharing them here, so here they are:

I've altered the Lord's prayer at the suggestion of a book I read part of a while back. They suggested personalizing it:

Our Father in heaven, holy be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today fully enough bread.

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us,

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen

Saint Francis's prayer is pretty much a standard version, but less well known:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love,

        where there is injury, pardon

        Where there is discord, union

        where there is doubt faith

        where there is despair, hope

        where there is darkness, light

        where there is sadness, joy

Grant that I might not so much seek to be consoled as to console,

        to be understood as to understand

        to be loved as to love

For it is in giving that we receive

        it is in pardoning that we are pardoned

        and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

And the motto of the Daughters of the King

For His sake...

I am but one, but I am one.

I cannot do everything, but I can do something.

What I can do, I ought to do.

What I ought to do, by the grace of God, I will do.

Lord, what would you have me do?
