I don't know quite how I got it, but I've had a notable case of eye strain for the better part of a week. Contributing causes we've tracked down so far include dust and mold. (Both are long-standing allergies that tend to make stuff like this worse, if not cause it outright.) Also, I strongly suspect staring intently at the computer screen while playing a particular game, tho I don't feel that this is confirmed quite yet. {lop-sided smile}
I'm now trying to reduce computer time. Cutting out the game is a test of my will-power. So is cutting out the card games and such I like to play. On the other hand, I doubt email will suffer much. LiveJournal, Blogger, and newsgroups might, but I hope not much. I don't want the essentials to suffer; I just want to cut back to them for a while. {Smile}

ReplyDeleteI'd probably get better mroe quickly if I stayed away from the computer more. As it is, I've cut back both TV time and computer time rather drastically. That does seem to be helping. It means more reading of books, magazines, and newspapers, but those don't seem to bother me as much. It's the things that glow that get me the most. {Smile}

From my own experience, gaming is super hard on the eyes. Probably because you really stare hard and blink less.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love computer games. I have an older system, though, and I can only play my older games. I still have the original Fallout, Arcanum and Morrowind. Oh! And I have a bunch of really old Ultima games, but they won't run on my computer, because it's too fast. I need to get hold of an old 386! :)

Blair, that makes sense. i've been trying to fiure out why a game would bother my eyes so much more than other computer use. More staring and less blinking probably do contribute. {rueful smile}
ReplyDeleteI think most of the games I play are older games, too, Tia. Actually, most are card games or board games. When I get beyond those, I start having trouble like the recent eyestrain. {lop-sided smile}
