Daily Update, August 2, 2025

On Saturday, I tried taking my antibiotic right after breakfast and dinner because I think they're usually less likely to upset the gastrointestinal tract if I take it on a full stomach. It worked. I had no gastrointestinal upset all day. {Smile}

A while after lunch, my main nurse took me down the hill. I reminded him about the popsicle, and we got that first. I picked peanut butter and chocolate. Then he paused do an errand on the way to Prince Kuhio Plaza. I walked around that shopping center for forty minutes of walking, which was my exercise for the day. This did include a fairly long stop at Enjoy Comics. It's still there, but the shelves are looking less full. The only thing I really wanted was far too expensive, even at 35% off. I finally picked a book that looks good and isn't nearly as expensive. My main nurse did a couple more errands on the way home. We were out around three hours all told, which I didn't expect. {Smile}

After breakfast, I browsed on the web and played Cross Stitch World. Then I wrote up Friday's daily update before and into lunch. I switched to reading web comics during lunch and continued afterwards. Next came our trip out. After we came back, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web before I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. I went into City of Heroes Homecoming but barely had time to check the auction house before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web before I began making notes in this. I also answered Nox on Discord, the chat server, before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started with crafting and auction house. Then Dr. Faustus invited me to a badge mission he they thought they had. I found my moderately high-level villain didn't have it, and joined them, but it turned out to be a different mission. I also talked with Nox on Discord. Dr. Faustus and I kept doing missions on the same characters. Dragons joined us, and we continued to do missions. We found another badge mission before we found the badge mission they first mentioned. When we had a third badge mission, too, I switched to my third best badge collector for it. Dragon's friend joined us near the end. Afterwards, I switched to my seventh best badge collector for that four-person movie trial, though I didn't get more badges there. I had most already; I just need a couple more. After that, Dr. Faustus left, and we fought a few giant monsters, but not one I didn't have the badge for already on my seventh best badge collector. Oh well, I got the regular juicy rewards. They were continuing, but I said goodnight, and made notes in this, with a break to read a web comic. I started to go offline but came back to add a few notes I almost forgot. I was still earlier to bed than usual, though not as early as I'd like to be when church starts at nine the next day. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 1, 2025

On Friday after breakfast, my main nurse took me down to Kamana Senior Center for my ballroom dance: cha-cha class. I got there early. Most got there late, so it started a bit late. I worked on the steps, at first with the gal learning to lead, and later with a couple of other gals. There are enough more gals than guys, not every gal gets to dance with a guy much. I enjoyed dancing, mainly getting the moves I learned last week down better. I also trying to learn more. The gal I danced with first suggested watching online between classes. I'll have to try that. That was my exercise for the day. When class was over, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

After lunch, the nursing company secretary came to pick up the month's check. She didn't have much time to talk but she waited while I made out the check. I'd meant to make it out before she got there, but somehow that didn't happen. {smile}

In the evening, I had a fairly bad spell of gastrointestinal upset. Then middle of my gastrointestinal tract was very gassy, and both ends felt ready to do stuff they thankfully didn't actually do. I looked up a new antibiotic I'd started earlier today online. Both nausea and diarrhea are known side effects, but they may calm down. I can hope, especially if I take it just after meals. I didn't yesterday, but that's helped in the past. {Smile}

After my class, I had lunch while I played Cross Stitch World, browsed the web, and read web comics. Then I wrote up Thursday's daily update, finishing not long before the villain supergroup meeting. I went on my moderately high-level member. One fellow got there before me. Dr. Faustus got there next, with a friend of the first fellow coming last. Dr. Faustus said the leader wasn't coming, and I remembered another regular won't be here for a couple of weeks. We roleplayed lightly, chatting in character. Then they wanted to do a mission I had, but I asked them to get a giant monster first. I needed it for a statistic-improving badge. We got it with the help of folks we recruited who all left as soon as ge was gone. I got the badges I wanted, and the stat improvement, which was very welcome. Then we four did a mission I'd saved for them, followed by another, but Dr. Faustus had to leave for work for a bit. He told us not to wait because his character already had the benefits. We got it done before he returned, which he knew we might. The others left. I stayed until Dr. Faustus came back, but he left for work when he realized we'd finished. He's warned me his work will make for busy weekends for a while longer. Finding myself alone, I worked on the auction house and crafting, along with answering Nox on Discord, until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner I began making notes in this. I also played Cross Stitch World and read web comics. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked who was on, then worked on auction house and crafting. Then I spent a fair while hunting for badge by fighting those body modding anarchists and some monsters known for wailing on my moderately high-level villain supergroup member. Towards the end, I also talked with Kitten, who seemed too tired to team up. I said goodnight to Nox with only a little talking. Then I worked on crafting and the auction house. While I was winding down, Pierogies said hi, and invited me to sit in a farm he was doing. I did, while making more notes in this, chatting with Pierogies and doing a little web browsing on the side. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 31, 2025

On Thursday I started my video counselling session as I finished breakfast and continued it afterwards. We talked about the tsunami, and how it affected me. I know some pretty rough personal stories that make it hard to watch folks make choices other than evacuating quickly and staying evacuated until it's very clearly over. Yes, I know I have to let folks make their own decisions, but that is hard when I know stories that made the bad possible outcomes all too clear. {resigned smile}

I didn't do any exercise, between getting sidetracked, and hoping my ballroom dance cha-cha class would get me back on track the next day. {smile}

After the counselling I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web. then I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse before lunch while browsing the web. I also began writing my daily update, which I finished after lunch. Next, I read several web comics, catching up with them, since I didn't read for a few days. After that, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I began to check some of my characters. Then Pierogies said hi and we teamed up. After confusion on my part over who to team up on, we chose characters early in the endgame and did two individual high-level missions. Next, we switched characters to work on a badge, running a mission with him before dinner, and planning how to get what he needs. {Smile}

After dinner, I made notes in this, taking breaks by playing Cross Stitch World. After that, I read some web comics. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and began collecting badges on my best badge collector. Next, I read about some of Doctor Faustus's characters. Then I did some auction house and crafting before I checked which friends were on. Not seeing many on, I continued crafting, which eventually changed to badge hunting. I chatted briefly with Nox on Discord, the chat server and also with Dr. Faustus on Discord as well. Then I played a little Cross Stitch World and started reading a new-to-me web comic. I also browsed the web and made notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 30, 2025

On Wednesday I called my doctor's office and still didn't get a response. So, I asked my main nurse to take me down to the office. The receptionist and the nurse practitioner looked quite surprised that the pharmacy hadn't called. They'd called a new prescription for a different antibiotic in and asked them to call me. In the future, I guess I should call the pharmacy if the doctor doesn't answer my messages, Next, we went to the bank, where I settled an account that I'd spotted when checking on Mom's account. After that we went home. {Smile}

In the middle of the afternoon, Kamana Senior Center called. All classes for the day were cancelled, including my Zumba Gold. There went my exercise for the day, unless you count a little walking at the doctor's and the bank, but that wasn't much walking. I hope to do better in the future, and that classes will be back by Friday, to do ballroom dance. I feel like I should have done something more, but honestly, I was just too tired. I suspect the stress of the tsunami got to me. Releasing it with the end of the warning and the alert... I'm usually tired after a lot of stress and tsunamis are always very stressful for me. {faint smile}

After the trip out, I had lunch while browsing the web and playing Cross Stitch World. Then I wrote up Monday's daily update before going into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I struggled to get into it and paused to make a tiny, but I think important. addition to the story I'm reworking. I did check on my friends in the game, and on the auction house before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote up Tuesday's daily update, playing Cross Stitch World during breaks. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I found Dr. Faustus, who said he need to finish a mission, and check a story arc he'd made for one of my characters. I prepped my lowest level characters to run content and was getting ready to do something with a barely higher-level character when he said hi, and that he was ready. I switch to the mid-level villain this was made for, and we ran it together. I realized it led into a story arc, so we ran it next. Then we parted, and I collected some badges on my character. Next, I made notes in this, with breaks to browse the web and read web comics. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 29, 2025

On Tuesday after breakfast my relief nurse and I took Uber down to the Kamana Senior Center. I was the first student to arrive for my Creative writing class. I got my teacher's email again and tried to share the story I'd copied to Google Docs and added a scene to the day before. Then class began. We listened to the teacher, then did a freewriting project. After that, we broke into two groups. In our group, three of our four members read what they'd written recently. I went first, reading the new first scene I'd written for that story just the day before. They told me what they liked about it. Then we heard from a guy and told him our reactions. We heard from one of the other gals last and didn't really have time to respond before class ended. However, I did learn that sharing the document with my teacher's email was successful. Afterwards, my relief nurse drove up in his truck and took me home. They hadn't fixed the truck, and hadn't found what was wrong, so, he claimed it, and plans to take it back when they actually have time to work on it. {Smile}

A while after we got home, I heard an alarm. It turned out to be my phone announcing a brand-new tsunami warning caused by an earthquake off Russia in the northeastern Pacific Ocean. I tried to track it most of the rest of the day, right through my supergroup meeting, which was just getting ready to start, and late into the evening, until they downgraded the Tsunami Warning to a Tsunami Advisory. {smile}

I didn't exercise on Tuesday. I was too busy. However, between line dancing the day before and Zumba Gold the next day, I hope to be fine. {Smile}

Before leaving for class, I left notes with my doctor again. They didn't respond on Tuesday, either, but I'd hope the tsunami had something to do with their lack of response. I suspected to have to drop in on them the next day to get a timely answer. On the way home from class, I got a call from my financial adviser. I explained what I'd spotted, and we agreed to both keep an eye on it. We hoped it would be fixed by the end of the day, but that was before the tsunami warning. When I got home, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web, Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming, and checked the auction house and which friends were on before I got the tsunami alert. I went to talk with my relief nurse, then rushed back to the game and the supergroup's base. I apologized to the other members for being late to the teen supergroup meeting, only to be assured I was the first one officially there. Others arrived and we began to roleplay. Well, I tried to get into it, but the local stations were running non-stop tsunami news coverage which was far more absorbing than roleplaying when I was concerned how badly the tsunami would hit us, I'm afraid. Then we did a player-designed mission. Well, they did. I tried to play; I really did, but I kept getting distracted by tsunami coverage. Finally tried to tell them. The leader told me to roleplay it. I tried to explain this was real life, not roleplaying. Yes, she'd told me to roleplay it... Finally, someone else spoke up, pointing out they thought I'd said it was real life. I thanked them for pointing out that it was real life. Did I say real life? Yes. Did I mean real life? Yes. Finally, it got through, and they expressed the concern I was really missing. That's when I could break for dinner. {small smile}

I was slow to go back because I kept watching tsunami news. When I live several miles over and 800 feet up from the ocean, it's like watching a train wreck from a pretty safe distance. Well, a train wreck that could really wreck my town and my life if it goes wrong, which I was praying it wouldn't. As long as I stayed home, I was immediately safe. I didn't even have to worry about losing water, since that's gravitational. I could lose power, but I've lived through power failures, even one that lasted for days. Anyway, we never did lose power. Eventually I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I talked with friends and eventually tried to join the teen supergroup meeting when only two were left. They were busy roleplaying, and I still couldn't get into roleplaying, but at least those two knew I was still okay. As it broke up, I ran into a friend from the chat world that preceded the game coming back. We talked before parting. I tried to work with the auction house and crafting, but I ended up playing Cross Stitch World and browsing on the web until I started notes in this. I got the notes done around bedtime, so I'm glad I made them before trying to write up an entry. I had to catch up the next day. {Smile}

P.S. The teen supergroup leader says she never meant to put the game before my personal safety. I didn't think she would, but our responses lined up unfortunately. {smile}

Daily Update, July 28, 2025

On Monday, around breakfast, I called my doctor's office and left a message about my symptoms returning over the weekend. I also got a call from the nursing company's secretary. Because my relief nurse's truck is still in the shop, we have to take Uber. The nursing company promised to reimburse me if I save the amount I paid. I'm glad, considering how much I pay them monthly. {Smile}

Because of the truck, after breakfast, I contacted Uber, and a somewhat chatty gal came and took me and my relief nurse to Aunt Sally's Luau Hale, where I had my line dancing class. The instructor was back and told us about her glaucoma operation. She also led some of the dances, with advanced students who like this group leading the rest. My relief nurse walked in and out until it was over. then I called Uber, and a very quiet guy came and took us home.

After we got home, I called my doctor's office, leaving a message in a different place. then I checked with my financial adviser and left a message. In a phone call a while later, I got the secretary, who told me the progress she'd made, and what I'd need to do myself when things were right. She promised me it should be okay the next day. {Smile}

Then that afternoon the gal who is leading me through the Daughters of the King discernment came to my house. We got another chapter done. There's only a couple more to go. After she left, I wrote a new first scene... or rewrote it, from vague memories of having written it, but I lost it later. It's for a story I need to revise rather drastically. After copying it into Google Docs so I'd have something for my creative writing class that includes new writing. {Smile}

Line dancing was my exercise on Monday. {Smile}

After we got home, I had lunch, followed by the later phone calls. After that, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web until the gal came. After she left, I called my financial adviser again before I did that writing. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started with auction house and some crafting until Dennis and Kitten hi. We teamed up and started doing missions. Dr. Faustus soon joined us. We did two missions of mine from different story arcs, and a mission of Dennis's before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote up Sunday's daily update, doing most of it in one sitting. I pushed myself to keep going past the time I'd usually take breaks, just to get it done. I only took a break when my brain felt tired, and like it wasn't thinking straight. Then I tried going back, but I made the break longer when I realized I wasn't thinking as straight as I hoped when I first went back. After that, I finished Monday's daily update. Then I tried to dash into City of Heroes: Homecoming only to discover that the two biggest "shards" were both down. From what Radio and Nox said in Discord, the chat server, the second biggest shard, which we all use, as do my close friends there, had just gone down. So, I took a short break. I was happily surprised it was back up after that. I went in and started with auction house and had begun to get into crafting when Dr. Faustus said hi. After I finished a little crafting I'd spotted, we teamed up and finished the story arc we'd started the night before. Then we roleplayed his character quizzing mine about part of her personal history. After that, I made notes in this with only a minimal break. {Smile}

Tsunami Alert downgraded July 29, 2025

We're finally downgraded to a Tsunami advisory. Some of the worst flooding in the whole state was in Hilo, my town. We'll see about damage - it's too dark - but we can hope it's light. {cross fingers, pray}

Tsunami Altert, July 28, 2025

 An Earthquake in Russia has apparently generated a tsunami. The first wave is just under two hours out. I and the house are well above the tsunami zone. Water is gravitational so should be fine. No promises about power. I'm hoping for the best, but we shall see. 🤞🙏

Daily Update, July 27, 2025

On Sunday after breakfast, my main nurse and I went to church. We got there just before the offertory, which is barely before the communion itself. We were there for communion and sat with Auntie Barbara. {Smile}

After the service, we had lunch on the lanai, with enough tables, the main dishes were in a room to the side. Yet we ran out of main courses, and at least one lady didn't get anything except dessert. I don't think the dessert table ran out, or not entirely.

Starting during lunch, we had a parish-wide meeting, where the leader, a priest from the Cathedral in Honolulu, led us through answering three questions: 1) Who we are as a parish, 2) Who we want to become as a parish, and 3) What kind of person should our priest be to get us there. We wrote down every answer someone called out, then put check marks by our favorites. He gave us each five checks for the first list, and four for each of the latter two. {Smile}

After that, we left. I went with Auntie Barbara and a friend of hers to visit our friend Charlotte, who is housebound. We enjoyed talking with her. I even found the only short video of Dad. Thankfully, I have it up on Facebook. We not only saw what he and Mom looked like when he was in the nursing home. We heard him singing a song about Mary. Then Auntie Barbara took me back home. {Smile}

I didn't get any exercise, but I look forward to my line dancing class the next day. {Smile}

On the way down to church, I made notes about two phone calls I need to make. One is to my doctor, because the infection seems resistant to the antibiotic they gave me. The other is to my financial adviser, to talk about stuff I found recently at Mom's bank. On the way back, I talked with Auntie Barbra and her friend. When I got home, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web until I took a nap because I'd gotten to bed too late for such an early morning as Sundays are this summer. After my nap, I played more Cross Stitch World and browsed the web some more before I wrote up Saturday's daily update. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started working with the auction house and crafting. I also checked which friends were on. Then I checked Discord, the chat server, where I chatted with Nox and told Dennis I hoped we could get together after his walk. Next, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked and began setting up the character I just got out of the tutorial. Then I played by myself on the last character stuck in the tutorial, making distinct progress on her until Dennis said hi. I switched to the moderately high-level villain supergroup member so we could team up. He helped me improve her a bit more. Then we squeezed in a not-too-long mission before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I browsed on the web and started making notes in this. I paused to watch some videos, then made more notes in this before I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked the auction house, then took a break to catch up on web comics. Then i went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming, where I played by myself to get the last character stuck in the tutorial out, this time with the badge her sister missed. Then I began setting her up. I stopped when Dr. Faustus said hi, switching to a mid-level villain I've been wanting to introduce him to. We started a story arc together, or at least I talked to the contact. However, we noticed this assumed I'd done a taskforce I hadn't on her as a villain. So, we did the taskforce the dialog assumes we have done. After that, we did the first mission of the story arc before saying goodnight. Then I checked some of the stuff she'd picked up. Next, I read web comics before finishing making notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, July 26, 2025

On Saturday, a while after lunch, my main nurse took me down to the ice cream parlor in Lilu'okalani Garden, where I picked out a chocolate fudge popsicle. Then we went over to Target, where I walked over to the books and back, browsing them but not buying anything, while my main nurse got some things. Then we went back home. {Smile}

Walking around Target was my exercise. It wasn't much, but I had cha-cha the day before, so I hope it's okay. {Smile}

After breakfast, I had a nap. Then over lunch I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked who was on. Then I checked the auction house. (Yes, this game has an auction house for the auctions.) I also did some crafting and played by myself a tiny bit on the gal I got out of the tutorial the day before. After that, I started notes in this before our trip out. After I got back, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web Then I wrote up Friday's daily update and made notes in this. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and worked on crafting and the auction house while I chatted with Nox on Discord, the chat server until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I played Cross Stitch World and browsed on the web. Then I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. After that, I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on friends, saying hi to Dr. Faustus, while I crafted and worked with the auction house. Then I started working on talks about crafting with my moderately high-level villain supergroup member, Dr. Faustus found me just as I got to the one real mission in the story arc with all the talks about crafting. We teamed up, and finished the arc in character, since his character is a professor. Then we started a story arc that connects me to a particularly powerful villain. We spent a very long time talking about the choices until I finally picked the right one for this character, which involved figuring out who four different villains would pick. I was really impressed with how patient he was in choosing. Most say just pick one, but Dr. Faustus felt getting the right one was important, even when that took a long time. I have to agree, with this character being in a supergroup that does a good bit of roleplaying. We did most of the story arc, stopping just before the final mission, not just because it was late - which it was - but because our characters' supergroup would enjoy joining in on this mission. Then we said goodnight. I made notes in this, as well as working on the auction house and crafting. I also altered my moderately high-level villain supergroup member, which took longer than I should have spent when church is so early the next morning. {Smile}
