Daily Update, Monday, January 26, 2026

The night before Monday, went to bed too late, but slept better than usual. The next morning, I wasn't as tired as expected, so I didn't try to nap. Well, I was tired in the evening, but I didn't try to nap then, either. I guess by then I'd forgotten a nap might help. Maybe I would have done better if I had napped. {small smile}

After breakfast, my substitute relief nurse took me to Auntie Sally's Luau Hale for my first timer's line dance class. I got there as they were starting. It went well, except one song really tired me. He warned us it was fast. Maybe I should have taken a break then, but I'd feel like I was missing part of it. {Smile}

Afterwards, my substitute relief nurse took me to the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens. I actually had ice cream - mint chocolate chip - since the day before was my birthday. I figure that's a special enough occasion. {Smile}

I shared my story with my housekeeper by email, and got its spelling and grammar fixed up better. Then I got enough copies printed out to take to class and put them in my bag for that particular class. Yes, my housekeeper came and worked most of the afternoon. Her husband came, too, and fixed up some things that have been needing repair. They were just small jobs, like a handyman or small contractor does, but they've been waiting far too long. It's such a relief to know that they're done. {Smile}

When I got home after my class, I had salad and drinks for my lunch, but no starch, because I felt that was partial compensation for the ice cream. I read articles and comics and watched videos on the web over lunch and into the afternoon. My housekeeper came a while after lunch. I worked on emailing her story and got the grammar and spelling when I realized email showed more than my other files. I made sure to copy it into my own copies, too. Then I printed it out for class. After that, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Then I went out of the game to read some more comics on the web. I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming to play by myself, mostly hunting, until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I went into City of heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends who play the game. Unfortunately, Kitten seemed busy and others were gone. I did talk a little with Ulty about concerns about a new, slightly higher-level character for the teen supergroup. I tried to write Sunday's daily update, but drowsed a bit, and kept getting distracted by comics on the web. Eventually I finished and went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Then I hunted on the character I hoped would join the teen supergroup, but I'm not sure I like some of the changes I made to her. I sorted the in-game auction house, storage and crafting, then made notes in this. for breaks, I checked City of Heroes: Homecoming and couple of times. I also talked with Kitten a little in both City of Heroes: Homecoming and Discord. After that, I said the Lord's Prayer and read Forward Day by Day to finish my evening. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 25, 2026

On Sunday after breakfast my main nurse took me to church. On the way, I had a text conversation with my relief nurse, who is on leave. At church, the congregation sang Happy birthday when I walked in, and Auntie Barbara gave me an orange rose lei. Yes, it was my birthday on Sunday. Not just close, but that day. It was a nice service, followed by lunch on the lanai, then a brief visit with Charlotte before Auntie Barbara took me home. {Smile}

After dinner, I got a brief call from my relief nurse to wish me happy birthday and touch bases. It wasn't long, but it was nice to hear from him. {Smile}

When I got home from church, I got onto my computer. read articles and comics and watched videos on the web. I also talked with Kitten on Discord. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting, and checked on my friends who play the game. I hunted on the moderately low-level character I've bene working on. then Pierogies said hi, and we teamed up for a couple of missions before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I read articles and comics, and watched videos, all on the web. Then I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. After that came the brief phone call with my relief nurse. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on the in-game auction house, storage, and crafting. Then I checked on my friends who play the game. I talked with Ulty and Jenny's player, especially about new characters. I tried to fix up a character to suit Ulty's rules, but I'm not sure I like where this is going, especially after the unsettling encounter the night before. Anyway, I paused to write up Saturday's daily update. Then Dr. Faustus said hi. So did Divi, who invited me to a trial, but they only one spot, and I wasn't quite in the mood, so I teamed up with Dr. Faustus for a couple of missions. Next, I worked on the in-game auction house and storage. After that, I read comics on the web. Then I made notes in this with minimal breaks before I ended my evening by saying the Lord's Prayer and reading Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 24, 2026

On Saturday, I finally finished a revised draft of my story. I finished the last scene, which was the big climax. I tried first in the afternoon, but I could only write a few lines at a time. Eventually I gave up. Then late in the evening, I did the rest in one long push. I guess I write best in the evening, though mornings aren't too bad, either. Afternoons are the worst for fiction writing, though. I can do my daily updates, but even they are not as easy int he afternoon. {smile}

 The night before Saturday, I got to bed late enough, that after breakfast, I napped until lunch. I had lunch at my computer, while reading articles and comics and watching videos, all on the web. After lunch, I had our last watermelon popsicle rather than take a trip out. While working on the popsicle, I began to fill the last hole in my story a short paragraph at a time, with articles, comics, and videos in between, all on the web. Eventually I tried to go into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked the in-game auction house, storage, and crafting, with frequent trips out for a few more lines of story. Then I gave up on the story, and tried to settle into the game, though a few more trips happened. Eventually I did settle and played by myself on the character I've been trying to work up in level. I got another level doing hunts and part of another story arc that isn't as much fun with friends. I also wrote up my daily update during breaks, and got it done and shared before going to dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I read comics on the web before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Then I played by myself on the same character, finishing that story arc and an old mission, as well as hunts, until Dennis said hi. We teamed up and did a couple of my missions on the higher-level teen supergroup member. Then we said goodnight before he headed to bed. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting, then had an unsettling encounter in the game, so I watched some videos on the web. Then I finished the current draft of my story in one big writing session. Next, I made notes in this in another big writing session, with barely any breaks. I ended my evening by saying the Lord's Prayer and reading Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 23, 2026

On Friday after breakfast, my main nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my Ballroom Dance: Rhumba class. I made a point to talk to the others a bit more when I wasn't dancing. I need practice at that, but this is how I get it. I thought class went well. I have nine beginner's steps down so far. I partnered with a couple of gals, including the teacher's assistant, as well as dancing on my own when I didn't have a partner. After class, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

At home, I got onto my computer and had lunch while I started reading articles and watching videos on the web. I continued after lunch. I had the rest of the chocolate cake for an afternoon snack as I settled into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started with the in-game auction house, storage and crafting I like to begin the weekend with. Then I began setting another character up to gain a few levels. I stopped when it was almost time for my villain supergroup meeting. I attended on my higher-level member. I found the other regular player was already there, even though I was slightly early. Our leader came soon. Dr. Faustus was last to arrive. Our leader wasn't really feeling up to playing, so we just roleplayed until our conversation slowed down to where we had long silences. I admit to checking a few things elsewhere on my computer while waiting for replies. Our leader left first, with Dr. Faustus a while later. The other player and I didn't really leave until I realized I was late to dinner and left for that. {Smile}

After dinner, I read articles and comics and watched videos, all on the web. I also did a little writing in my story, but not much. With Mom's birthday not long before, and mine in a couple of days, it's been hard to get into a good mood for writing fiction. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and talked a little bit with Ulty and Jenny's Player as I worked more with that character, setting her up to gain levels. I ran her through a hunt or two, followed by a story arc that's too talky and too teachy to be as much fun to do with friends. After that, I did some more hunts. with all that, she did gain a couple of levels. She has one more level to go before I stop gaining levels to do more content on her. Then I worked on the in-game auction house, storage, and crafting. Next, I made notes in this, taking breaks to read some short articles and browse on Amazon. When my notes were done, I said the Lord's Prayer and read forward Day by Day. I got to be awfully late, though. {smile}

Daily Update, January 22, 2026

Thursday after breakfast, I had my video counselling. It went well. We talked a lot about my future, helping me plan it out better, or at least begin to. {Smile}

After my counselling, my main nurse took me down to Island Naturals, where I met up with Auntie Barbara. Auntie Barbara and I picked out lunch, which was Auntie Barbara's treat, including a piece of chocolate cake, all in honor of my birthday, which is this coming Sunday. Then we went to Wailoa Park for a picnic lunch. All the pavilions with picnic tables in them were full, so we started to walk around, looking. A pavilion near us soon emptied. I claimed it while Auntie Barbara got our food from the car. We had a nice lunch, and shared the cake, eating about equal pieces, and leaving a part in the middle that I took home for later. My main nurse met us and took me home afterwards. {Smile}

At home, I got onto my computer. I read articles and watched videos as I settled in. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends who play the game. I got together with Dennis, and Kitten joined us. Dennis was collecting badges, so I got a character working on the same badges. We stopped right before my dinner. {smile}

After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Dennis and Kitten were still doing badges, but this time Dennis chose badges my 8th best badge collector needed. She got several with him, until he tired, and wanted to switch. Next, he let me pick, so I asked for a badge mission my second-best badge collector needed. He picked one that got her two badges and progress on a third. I updated her record. then I tried to work on another badge but was moving very slowly until Dr. Faustus said hi. They offered to help when I told them what I was working on. They knew all the tricks to make it easy to get another pair of badges. Then I helped Dr. Faustus with a couple of missions before saying goodnight. I updated my second-est badge collector's badge record again. Then I peeked at Cross Stitch World. Next, I made notes in this. I took breaks to read one short comic on the web, and to do some in-game auction house, storage, and crafting in City of Heroes: Homecoming. I finished my evening by saying the Lord's Prayer and reading Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

Daily Update, Januaray 21, 2026

Wednesday was Mom's birthday. To celebrate, I didn't visit her niche in cemetery. A friend suggested that, but Mom and Dad avoided cemeteries and funerals as much as possible. Instead, I tried to accomplish stuff, since she loved to get needed things done.

First, my main nurse took me to the Hilo branch of the state employment office, where I started the process to claim Mom's pension, since she'd said it was settled on me. That was surprisingly quick and painless, especially for a state government office in Hawai'i. Next, we went to HMSA, my health insurer. I paid for another month's insurance, then waited over an hour to set up automatic payment. It wasn't too bad once they saw me, but one representative was handling all customers, and the line was very slow. When we were finally done, my main nurse took me back home. {Smile}

Then after dinner, my main nurse took me to the Church of the Holy Cross for Rhumba and Shuffle, my two Wednesday ballroom dance classes. We waited in the car until someone came and opened up. I and the other students did the Rhumba for the first hour. Then we did the 4-count shuffle for the second hour, not the 3-count shuffle like last week. They hoped it was easier, and it is when first learning the dance. Though it's really best to learn both, as they pointed out. I think because you're better prepared for dancing socially, where your partner at least in theory could do either. After the second class, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

At home after the errands in the morning, I got onto my computer. I read articles and watched videos on the web right over lunch and after for a while, since I was tired form the morning's errands. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I started to play by myself on a character who I wanted to get a level on. I got invited to a team doing similar stuff, and Kitten joined us. I did get my level and prepared to stay at it for a while without out gaining more. a little later, the leader left. I switched to the slightly higher-level character I got up to moderately low-level and got Kitten's help with a badge to help them tiring too easily. Then at Kitten's suggestion, set up my best BC and one of their characters to work on a badge while I ate dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, at Kitten's suggestion we set the characters up better before I left them and Kitten again while I went to my dance class. After I got home after my dance class, I checked City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and responded to one or two who'd left messages while I was away, but they'd left after leaving comments. Then I wrote up Tuesday's daily update. I checked my friends in City of Heroes: Homecoming a few more times over the evening, but didn't spot anyone to team up with, so I didn't leave the badging arrangement with Kitten. I read comics over evening too, as my character closer to the badge in a line of them. Eventually, Kitten came back, surprised I was still there. We talked. Then we set up our characters slightly better for the night. I made notes in this, taking breaks to talk with Kitten. When I was done, I said the Lord's Prayer and read forward Day by Day. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 20, 2026

On Tuesday I forgot about the monthly meeting until it had been over for a few hours. That's when I discovered that the leader had called me. When I called her back, she said she wanted to be sure I was okay because I'd missed the meeting. I apologized for missing it, of course. I checked after hanging up, and it was noted on my calendar on the correct day. I really need to check my calendar daily. First, I almost miss my doctor, then I do miss the monthly meeting... {sigh, smile}

I did not forget about my creative writing class. In fact, I wrote a bit when the meeting was on, between breakfast and when my substitute relief nurse took me down to Kamana Senior Center for my class. Creative Writing went well. they liked hearing how I'd written to fill three holes and start to fill a fourth when I only knew about two holes after last class. The big hole is mostly not filled yet, but I have a week. After class, my substitute relief nurse came and took me home. {Smile}

We remembered the popsicles when we got home but didn't go out again for them. Instead, I got onto my computer. I read articles and watched videos on the web. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I found a note from Nyxy that our teen supergroup's meeting was cancelled. I checked on some characters and played by myself on a very low-level one to get her up a couple of levels. Then I confirmed with Nyxy that the meeting was cancelled. Next, I started to get a similar character who is also very low-level up a level. After that, I checked on my friends who play the game and began writing up Monday's daily update before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I read articles and watched videos on the web. Then I finished Monday's daily update. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and played by myself to the second very low-level character up another level, matching the first one. After that, I checked on my friends who play the game. I started to check other characters but stopped when Divi invited me to a taskforce. I found out what type of character he needed, ran it with the team he'd already recruited. We broke up after the taskforce, and I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Then I read some comics on the web before starting to make notes in this. I took breaks to play Cross Stitch World, read a little more of the comic, and check Amazon before I finished making notes in this. I ended my evening with saying the Lord's Prayer and reading Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 19, 2026

On Monday, I didn't go to line dancing class. I remembered as we were getting ready to leave that it might be a holiday. Sure enough, it was Martin Luther King Day, which is a state holiday, and the county observes all state holidays, including in their senior activities schedule which is the program I take most of my classes through, including first timer's line dance. {Smile}

However, my phone reminded me about a podiatrist appointment. I checked when I recognized the calendar-reminder sound, and that's what I found. So, my substitute relief nurse took me down. We actually arrived slightly early. My feet are about the same, and my toenails now trimmed. The receptionist remembered to charge me for my toenail trimming, so I shouldn't get a surprise bill this time. {Smile}

Next, we checked the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens. but they were closed. It was a little after three, and that is their official closing time, so it wasn't surprising. My substitute relief nurse ran a couple of errands while I dozed a little fitfully. I just couldn't stay awake. Luckily, I didn't need to. {Smile}

I did get a little more writing done. I didn't tackle the climax scene, but I added a few lines about a detail at least a couple of readers have asked about. I'm getting nervous about publishing. I talked with Kitten about that at some length on Discord on the afternoon. {Smile}

When I realized I didn't have class, I settled onto my computer. I read articles and watched videos on the web. Then I did that little bit of writing before reading more articles, and possibly some comics as well as watching videos. That continued right through lunch until my phone hiccupped, reminding me about my appointment. So, we went out for my doctor and the errands. When I got back home, I went onto my computer. I chatted with Kitten on Discord, the chat server, at length about concerns about failing if I try to publish a story. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and said hi to Dennis and Pierogis. They were teaming to collect badges together and actually restarted a mission so I could join. I got a couple of badges for my third-best badge collector, and one for my second-best badge collector before breaking for dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I read articles and comics and watched videos, all on the web. I also had a lighter conversation with Kitten on Discord. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Not finding anyone to team with, I hunted on the same low-level character, finally gaining another level. Dr. Faustus said hi, but they were busy. So, when Azurette invited me to a low-level trial, I took that character to it. and gained another level, which is the last i want to gain on it for a while, so I prevented it from gaining more for a while. It's really more moderately-low-level now than truly low-level. Dr. Faustus said hi again as I was finding a character for a different trial with Azurette, but he couldn't join us because we already had the necessary size of group. I got the last two badges it gives for my seventh-best badge collector. After that, the group broke up, so I joined Dr. Faustus in a low-level taskforce on the character I've been teaming with Pierogies on. When the taskforce was done, we said goodnight. I did a little auction house, storage and crafting, then made notes in this, taking breaks to check City of Heroes: Homecoming, and even solo a little on the character who ran the taskforce, as well as to update the badge records for my second and third best badge collectors. I ended my evening with saying the Lord's Prayer and reading Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 18, 2026

On Sunday, I got to bed early compared to recently, so I set the alarm early even for Sundays (which are usually slightly early anyway). It rang when I was sleepy, so I reset the alarm for the usual time. I rested until I was more awake and got up a little earlier than usual for Sundays, but not much. {Smile}

My main nurse took me to church as soon as we were ready. We got there during the sermon, possibly near the end. It was a nice service as much as we saw. After the service, I had a large lunch on the lanai. Our annual meeting started there while we were eating. We voted for three full-term vestry members, one one-year vestry member filling out someone else's term, three convention delegates, and one convention delegate alternate. I helped count the ballots. I was inspired to volunteer because it was the least time-consuming alternative that disqualified me from any job on the ballot. I and the other gals were happy with how quickly we got them counted. {Smile}

Afterwards, I went with Auntie Barbara to Charlotte's. She's still at home and hoping to move to Life Care Center soon. {Smile}

After I got home, I got onto my computer. I read articles and comics and watched videos, all on the web. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I teamed up with Pierogies, Kitten, Dennis, and Dennis's friend. We finished the story arc on the low-level characters which Pierogies and I have been working on. Then Pierogies left. I picked a hunt after trying and failing to get anyone else to express a preference for what we did next. Kitten went quiet after the hunt. We did one more mission. Then Dennis and his friend left, too. I shifted to a slightly higher-level character and hunted until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I read several articles and comics, and watched several videos, all on the web. Then I wrote up Saturday's daily update before I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I hunted on same character as right before dinner, and talked with Nox on Discord, the chat server, until Dr. Faustus said hi. Kitten joined us, then Dragons joined us, and the three of us finished the same story arc as before dinner on different characters, starting earlier in the story. Then Dragons left, and Dr. Faustus, Kitten and I did a trial that can follow that story arc. I began making notes in this while waiting for the trial to start. Despite the trial being written for a full team when we had less than half a team, we finished after some struggles. I followed it with minimal storage, then made most of my notes in this, only pausing to make a couple of quick notes on Discord to friends there. Then I said the Lord's Prayer and read Forward Day by Day to finish my evening. {Smile}

Daily Update, January 17, 2026

 The night before Saturday, I got to bed particularly late. I determined to avoid this in the future but done is done. Anyway, this led me to take a nap after breakfast. I got up after an hour, but I soon went back to bed to wake up more slowly. I got up again shortly before lunch. {Smile}

After lunch, I watched a video about things to avoid writing into your fiction. One thing mentioned was a lack of closure, which I was afraid my story might have. This concern inspired me to get out my story and try to put an ending on it. One friend had suggested an ending, but it didn't really fit as they wrote it, because they had a different idea of what sequels might be about than I do. So, I wrote an ending that used a few elements of theirs and shared it with the friend in thanks for their help. {Smile}

 I got onto my computer pretty quickly after my second rest. I read articles and watched videos on the web over lunch, right until I shifted to writing an ending for my story. I was tired and a bit drained after that, so I set the story aside, and went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Then I checked the in-game auction house and storage. Then, not seeing anyone to team up with, I paused to start Friday's daily update. I shifted to reading one or more comics on the web when my main nurse brought in a watermelon flavored popsicle in lieu of going out for a popsicle. It occupied a hand too much for playing City of Heroes on Homecoming or doing much regular typing but reading a comic on the web isn't hard to do mostly one-handed. Next, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I found Pierogis and Kitten, an got their attention. We three teamed up and worked on the low-level story arc right into dinner time, because by the time I was called to dinner we were too far into one of the longest missions in the game. Stopping before the end would be standing up my friends, which I don't do if I can help it. I did stop right after the mission to go to dinner. Pierogis and I agreed we'd do the last mission in the story arc another time. {Smile}

After dinner I watched a video or two on the web, and read a comic on the web, too. I might have read an article on the web as well. Then I wrote up Friday's daily update before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I tried to get kitten's attention, but they didn't respond, so I played by myself until Dr. Faustus said hi. As I was responding to Dr. Faustus, Dragons said hi, too. I teamed up with both of them for a popular long but low-level mission that Dr. Faustus had. It was shorter and lower level than the one before dinner with Kitten and Pierogies. After that mission, Dragons left. Dr. Faustus and I did a few more missions before we parted. I checked the auction house and storage Then I made notes in this, taking breaks to do some in-game storage and crafting and check on my friends in City of Heroes: Homecoming. I said the Lord's Prayer and forward Day by Day not really early, but earlier than the previous night, since Church was to be early the next morning. {Smile}
