The tsunami

There are advantages to living at 800 feet elevation. When most tsunamis hit, we're well out of the inundation zone. That includes all earthquake-generated tsunamis, like the one from Japan. My town of Hilo got five-foot waves. so the damage should be limited to coastal areas. Hopefully, we'll even be able to get groceries later today, since we're running low on milk. I figure if that's our biggest concern, we're very blessed indeed today. {SMILE}

Although there is one other problem. My computer is in the shop, so I don't have access to my current friends-and-family email lists. I have a backup, but Dad's computer can't read the disk. I'll have to figure out something.... {rueful smile}

  2. Thank you. Yes, I feel quite blessed. {Smile}

    Dad and I drove around town yesterday, after I wrote. We were mainly picking up dinner at Subway, but we drove by a park where the road runs by Hilo Bay. We didn't even see mud on the road, let alone anything worse. We did see three kittys, tho. That's more of the park's feral cat population than we expected to see at that time of day. {Smile}

  3. Sound like your area weathered things alright. :) Kittens, or grown cats?

  4. Yes, my town came thru the tsunami nicely. {Smile}

    The cats we saw looked grown, or mostly so. They almost always are. I know there must be kittens around, since there are over a dozen adult cats. However, their mothers must be very good at hiding them when they're small. {Smile}

  5. Kittens are terribly shy. You don't really see them until they start exploring. Then, I suppose, they drive their mothers frantic with worry. :)
