Daily Update, September 1, 2025

On Monday I hope you had a Happy Labor Day if you celebrated it. If not, I hope you had a nice day.

I did not go out, since Labor Day meant my class was cancelled, and many stores are either not open, or extra busy due to sales. I did have a couple of calls with the secretary of Helping hands Hale, the nursing company I use, to arrange paying and dropping stuff off the next day so things go quickly, since it's a busy day for her. {Smile}

After breakfast, I got ready for the day, which led to browsing the web until the first phone call. Then I browsed the web some more and read web comics over lunch before the second call. After that, I began writing up Sunday's daily update. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends. I also did minimal auction house and storage before Pierogies found me. We teamed up on the low-level characters we did a story arc and part of a second on the other day. We finished that second story arc. First, we did a short mission. Then Dennis joined us along with his friend, and we four ran a short hunt followed by a long mission that is particularly popular for such a low-level one. After that, we said goodnight. Then I did some auction house and storage, followed by some hunts right up to dinner. {Smile}

After dinner I finished writing up Monday's daily update, with a long break to browse the web and a shorter one to write a bit more of the story for my creative writing class the next day. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started with checking the auction house and storage. Then I hunted some more on that same low-level character, with pauses - some long - to browse the web, especially watching videos. I also responded to Kitten, then Nox, both on Discord. Then I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming to do some hunting on that same low-level character, until I finished al true hunts that I found. When I got done, I got a badge and talked with Azurette until they left. Then I made notes in this, with a break to read a web comic, and a teensy bit of formatting of my story before bed. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 31, 2025

On Sunday I got up only 20 minutes before I usually do instead of 30 because the night before I forgot to reset my alarm. However, I tried to get ready as quickly as feasible. {Smile}

After breakfast my main nurse took me to church. I played Cross Stitch World on the way down. We arrived in the middle of the sermon, which felt good after I got up late. The service was nice. I sat with my main nurse because Auntie Barbara was out on the lanai teaching Sunday school along with her new assistant. She had three siblings with their baby sibling watching. They're a new family to our church who inspired Auntie Barbara to restart Sunday school early, before her trip. She said later that the oldest is 14 - "really too old for Sunday School," so her assistant - a professional teacher - got him helping teach the younger ones who are older elementary age. {Smile}

After the service we had lunch on the lanai. I sat with my main nurse for the main course and Auntie Barbara for dessert, along with the gal who's been directing my discernment for Daughters of the king. I mentioned other concerns in relation to preparing, and she suggested taking those as they come. The evangelism and service commitments don't specify daily like the prayer commitment. Then she contacted our deacon. They're beginning to arrange to have my vows and most of the officers' swearing in soon. We're hoping for next week or the week after. {Smile}

After lunch, I went with Auntie Barbara to visit Charlotte. This time both Charlotte's cat and Mandy, her daughter who cleaned our house for many years, came in for much of the visit, which was a very nice and friendly one. Then Auntie Barbara took me home. {Smile}

At home, I hopped on my computer and played some Cross Stitch World. Then I browsed the web before I wrote much of my daily update. When I lost steam, instead of browsing the web some more, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and started checking the auction house on different characters. I dropped that when Kitten said hi to team up with them. We cleared out four or five dens of bad guys in a row, which seemed a lot. I looked it up later, and it's supposed to be only two missions, but somehow the game got stuck on repeating them because that was at least three extras on top of the two. Eventually we finished, and I think we did one different mission before Kitten went quiet like they'd fallen asleep. After hours of playing, that wasn't too surprising for Kitten. I finished writing my daily update and shared it right before dinner. {Smile}

After dinner I browsed the web, played Cross Stitch World, and read a couple of web comics. Then I remembered to read Forward Day by Day. I did so twice, as is becoming my habit, because I understand more if I read it more than once. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming where I found a note from Dr. Faustus saying they'd only have a couple of hours to play, and that was a while ago. I contacted them immediately and we finished the story arc we started last night on the same characters. Then we said goodnight. After that, I worked with storage, the auction house, and crafting. I also worked on badges a bit. Then I played some Cross Stitch World and wrote a little of the story for my creative writing class. Next, I made notes in this. I finished the evening reading web comics before bed. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 30, 2025

On Saturday, in the middle of the afternoon, my main nurse took me to the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens. There the staff insisted on treating both of us to free popsicles, which was very nice of them. I ate my chocolate mocha one on the way to Prince Kuhio Plaza, where we walked all the way around the plaza, including into both Macy's stores. That was my exercise for the day. Near the end, we stopped by Enjoy Comics, which was still open to our surprise. Though I learned they can't accept credit anymore when I paid for my books, so I suspect this may be the last time. Being between credit cards, I wasn't going to use credit anyway. After Enjoy comics, we walked to the car and went home. {Smile}

After breakfast I browsed the web, trying to gather my thoughts. Eventually I gave up and cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. Then I browsed the web some more over lunch and afterwards, feeling more myself with some food in me. So maybe the morning's disconnectedness was blood sugar. After that we went out to the ice cream parlor and Prince Kuhio Plaza. I rested on the way down and back, though not on the way from the park to the shopping center, since I was busy eating my popsicle then. When I got back, I read web comics until I realized it was getting close to dinner and dashed into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked my friends and said hi to Kitten, who didn't respond. So, I collected badges on the character Kitten designed until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I did a little web browsing and made notes in this. Then I did a little more web browsing and wrote up Friday's daily update, with breaks to browse the web, especially books on Amazon. Though I can't buy anything until I get my new credit card, and don't plan to spend much when have it anyway. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends. Dr. Faustus said hi. We teamed up and started a mid-level story arc. It was long enough and had a lot of reading Dr. Faustus didn't discourage me from reading, so we got maybe halfway or a little further before we said goodnight. I could have moved faster, but Doc let me read all the stuff about the missions, which I appreciate so much since it lets me enjoy the story more as I get refreshed about what's going on. We said goodnight, and I started to get ready for bed when Kitten showed up. We hadn't teamed all day, so I suggested at least one mission. We ended up doing a mission, a talk, and another mission, finishing a story arc. Then we said goodnight. I made notes in this and looked up something Kitten and I had talked about. I tried to head to bed earlier than usual because of church being early but didn't get as much earlier as I wished. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 29, 2025

On Friday after breakfast, my relief nurse took me to my ballroom dance cha-cha class. We had another small group but a good one. I danced with both of the teachers and on my own. Then a guy asked me to dance and thanked me afterwards. That was a surprise, but it was very nice to get a different partner. That was my exercise for the day. Afterwards, my relief nurse took me back home. {Smile}

When I got home, I had lunch, which perked me up a fair bit, but I still took a nap. Then I went onto my computer and browsed the web while I woke up. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked friends, friends, and found Kitten on and responsive, so we teamed up. We did two quick missions before my villain supergroup meeting, where I was not the last one to arrive for once. We roleplayed a little, mainly to establish in character that we were doing the taskforce I've been hoping to do since Tuesday. It helped my lower-level member work on badges and featured the enemies Dr. Faustus loves to fight the most. We recruited the rest of a team, including one fellow who fit with us well enough, that I urged our leader to invite him to the supergroup afterwards. The fellow preferred to just tag along, so our leader established permanent contact with him to make that feasible. I also let them know about some friends I've talked to about joining. I'm to keep them apprised about developments. Then after the meeting I worked on a badge that the task force helped me with but didn't finish. It finished another badge for me and helped but didn't finish this one. I got almost half of what was left before dinner. Dennis said hi at end, and I apologized for having to leave for dinner but promised to come back soon. {Smile}

After dinner I did go back quickly but didn't find Dennis. He told me today that he got too tired and had to go to bed. I understand. I was late for him. Anyway, I started working on badges, and meant to do auction house and storage, but someone asked if I was working on something specific to the zone I was in. I said I could and switched to my best badge collector. I made progress on a badge that's hard to work on with the help of my new acquaintance. We ran into a person who attack us, since were in a Player-Versus-Player zone. My character wasn't good at attacking back, but my new acquaintance is and took care of them. We also established permanent communication despite my list being full when I first tried. I try to keep a spot open for just this situation, so after clearing one for them, I cleared another spot for next time. Then we finished what we were doing and said goodnight, because my new acquaintance needed to leave. So, I worked on some badges while sorting through my storage, the auction house, and crafting that had developed recently. Next, I finished the last badge the lower-level villain SG member needed that she'd been working on earlier, so the permanent improvement I was interested in has happened. After that, I collected some other badges on her until I stopped to read web comics and browse the web. Then I made notes in this with some web browsing and checking characters on City of Heroes: Homecoming. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 28, 2025

On Thursday after breakfast I had an online appointment with my counselor. I thought it went pretty well. We covered some good ground. {Smile}

Then a while after lunch I had another video appointment online. This one was with my nutritionist. We talked the full time, largely about my classes, especially the dance classes. She is concerned not just with what I eat but how much exercise I get, and those are good exercise. {Smile}

After dinner I got a call from Auntie Barbara. I enjoyed talking with her, and it sounded like she enjoyed talking with me too. {Smile}

I didn't do any exercise, but between Zumba Gold the day before and ballroom dance cha-cha expected the day after, I hope I'm good. {Smile}

After the counselling appointment, my relief nurse and I ran an errand before lunch. It was nice to get out of the house on a day when even my appointments were at home. When we came back home, I ate lunch. Then I browsed the web until my appointment with my nutritionist. After that appointment I watched a video. Then I wrote up my daily update before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends and the auction house. Mysty responded to my wave hello with an invitation to a taskforce. I was on the character Kitten designed and went on that character. We ran with a team over half full. My relief nurse called me to dinner at the beginning of the last mission, but I explained I would come after the mission. Afterwards, when I joined him for dinner, I explained I'd both leave them a man down and botch my own rewards if I pulled out early. {smile}

After dinner, I said hi to Dennis on Discord, the chat server. Then I browsed on the web before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends, the auction house and storage, and said hi to my friends. Mysty was already in a taskforce this time, but Azurette was in a giant monster league that I could and did join. I got a few giant monsters with them. Then they broke up and Azurette left, so I worked on sorting out storage and the auction house. I also talked with Nox on Discord. I worked on badges a bit, then browsed the web, especially about books. Then I noticed a message from Dr. Faustus saying they'd had their internet access disrupted, and it was good again, but it was too late. Except I had over an hour, so we teamed up, and did two badge missions, the first a long, low-level one my second-best badge collector had missed, so I did it on her. Then I had trouble finding someone who didn't have it, but I finally did, and we ran it. Next, we said goodnight. Right after that Pierogies said hi. I joined him in a farm, and we chatted I also made more notes in this and browsed the web and read web comics. Then Kitten joined us in the farm. Eventually, I finished notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 27, 2025

On Wednesday, I was quite tired, but before I took a nap, I tried to download something I'd been debating about getting, not that it worked. When I got up, I discovered a fraudulent site was involved. So over lunch and afterwards I tried to contact my bank. I discovered one number I had labelled as that bank was actually for a credit union I do use. I labelled it correctly. Then I called my bank for real I got disconnected a couple of times, but I finally got through on my third serious try. I cancelled my credit card. I also learned that to cancel that debit, I will have to dispute the charge after it passes processing. I'm debating whether that's worth the bother. At least cancelling my card at least prevents more charges, though I'll have to wait 7-10 days to get a new card. {smile}

Not long after, I discovered I had a cardiology appointment in 8 minutes. Thankfully, it was at the hospital, which is less than 5 minutes away and has moved right next to the entrance from distinctly further inside. So, my main nurse got me there in good time. I had a nice, uneventful appointment. I did not meet my new cardiologist like I thought I would. The cardiologist I saw is moving to Kaua'i soon. He referred me to someone else. My first appointment with them is a year away. We'll see what happens in a year. Afterwards, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

A while later, my main nurse took me to Zumba Gold. It was the new fellow who will be taking over that time slot. He did do easier dances than the last time, so he wasn't quite as hard to keep up with. I still plan to look for something else. Afterwards, my main nurse took me back home. {Smile}

I played Cross Stitch world on the trip to the cardiologist, both int he car and waiting inside, which wasn't long. When I got home, I hopped into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked by the auction house and friends. When I spotted Pierogies on, I said hi. We talked. He didn't feel like regular teaming, but he let me sit in a farm I gained a couple of levels on the lower-level villain supergroup member who needed at least one more by Friday. Then I went to Zumba Gold, reading on the trips down and back. {Smile}

When I got home, I had dinner. Then I browsed on the web before making notes in this. Next, I wrote up Tuesday's daily update. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming, where I checked the auction house and friends. I talked with Ulty. Then I trained up my lower-level villain supergroup member, who's more mid-level now. Then I hunted on her a bit. I also started talking with Nox on the chat server. after a bit of hunting, I switched to the character Kitten is designing, who is now the same level as the lower-level villain supergroup member. I also remembered Forward Day by Day and read it twice through. I'm always doing that since I started reading it again. It's too distilled to make as much sense the first time as on subsequent read-throughs. Then I did a mission on the character Kitten designed. During it, I began talking to Azurette. When I finished the mission, I toured the new part of her base. We also talked a fair bit. I read some web comics and browsed on the web. Then I checked the auction house and storage and did a tiny bit of crafting in City of Heroes: Homecoming during breaks from making notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 26, 2025

On Tuesday after breakfast, the secretary of the nursing company, who is filling in for my relief nurse, took me to Kamana Senior Center for my creative writing class. It was a good class. We listened to the teacher. Then we did some directed writing. Next, we read a little we'd worked on during the week in small groups. After class, I caught a short conversation between a couple of other students and our teacher. Then the secretary of the nursing company took me home. {Smile}

When I got home the secretary wanted to paint my nails, which was very sweet of her. She'd gotten some light purple nail polish which she used, then gave to me. {Smile}

I didn't do any exercise. Between line dancing Monday and Zumba Gold Wednesday, I hope a day off is okay. {Smile}

After the nails, I got online and collected badges on my slightly higher-level teen supergroup member until close to time for the supergroup meeting to start. I went to the base and found two guys already roleplaying. I joined them and two gals joined us shortly. We kept roleplaying a while longer. Then we ran a taskforce which we could all do that has better than usual rewards the first time a character does it this week. Afterwards, the guys left, and the gals and I started to roleplay. I soon got called to dinner, so I had my character fall asleep. {Smile}

After dinner, I took time settling down before having my character wake up and start roleplaying with them again. I made a point to keep engaged more and really enjoyed myself. It was nice when my old friend from Paragon Chat, the chat world that led me to City of Heroes, came in and joined us. He'd gotten free particularly late but still managed to catch us. After a while, the other gals left, and my friend and I kept roleplaying a fair while longer. I wrote up my daily update and started notes in this. By the time I was done, Kitten - who'd said hi a couple of times - had gone quiet. So, I got my moderately low-level villain supergroup member, who was only two levels low for the taskforce I'd just done, and started badge collecting and playing. I got one level and ran her through a tutorial story arc while she's visiting the heroes, since I find the hero version less annoying than the villain version. Then I did more badge hunting and a little auction house and storage before I finished notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 25, 2025

On Monday after breakfast, my main nurse took me down to Auntie Sally's Luau Hale for my line dancing class. I got there before they started and enjoyed talking with one gal I hadn't seen for a while. Then class started, and boy, do I enjoy dancing! It's such a gift after I couldn't for a few decades because of my vertigo. Line dancing was my exercise for the day, and pretty good exercise, I think. After class, my main nurse took me back home. {Smile}

Then in the evening, I got six copies printed out of the story I've been working on for my creative writing class. I had some trouble at first. Tuns out that if I'm printing from my phone, I need to leave it by the printer. I can't walk off with it to fetch something from another room and expect it to keep printing. Well, now I know. {chuckles}

In the car down to class and back, I read a book that I also read at some meals. I'm enjoying that more than playing Cross Stitch World. When I got back, I browsed the web over lunch. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked my friends, worked with the auction house, and also worked on some badges. Kitten said hi, but couldn't play immediately. So, I kept working on the auction house and badge collecting until I tried to start playing by myself. About then, Pierogies said hi. So did Kitten again. I talked with each. Then we teamed up. We did a couple of individual high-level missions. Then Pierogies left. Kitten and I tried to do another mission but first they were slow moving, and then I didn't realize when they did go into my mission, so I waited a bit long. We were just getting together again when they got called away, but they left directions for me to finish the mission. I did as it sank in that they were unlikely to come back soon. Then I worked with the auction house and talked a bit with Mysty, one of my friends from Paragon Chat, the chat server that led me to City of Heroes and Homecoming. That took me right up to dinner. {Smile}

After dinner I read web comics and continued my conversation with Mysty. The conversation prompted going into City of Heroes: Homecoming to look things up. Then, since I was there, I worked with the auction house, and storage, and checked on friends. Then I remembered to finish my daily update. I went back into the game to discover I'd missed talking with Azurette. So, I checked on my friends again and looked for something to do. Then I chatted with Nox on Discord, the chat server, and played only a little Cross Stitch World. Then I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming and actually started talking with Azurette this time. I toured her base to see recent changes. Then we just talked for quite a while. I also briefly checking web comics before making notes in this. {Smile}

Daily Update August 24, 2025

On Sunday, after breakfast, my main nurse took me down to church. I half-napped on the way to church because I'd gotten to bed late, yet gotten up extra early for church, so I really shorted myself on sleep. I arrived at church feeling a bit better. We got there during the sermon. I enjoyed sitting with Auntie Barbara and near Peg, who started our chapter of Daughters of the King.  After the service I had brunch while attending the monthly Daughters of the King meeting. After it was over I went with Auntie Barbara and another friend for a short visit with Charlotte before they took me home {Smile}

I didn't exercise on Sunday. Between walking the day before and the line dancing class I expect to attend the next day, I hope a break is okay. {Smile}

When I got home, I took a nap because I was feeling "tired around the edges," which is terrible for getting much done. Then I hopped onto my computer, I browsed the web and peeked at web comics while I woke up. As I felt more awake, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I started with badging and checking the auction house. When I felt even more awake, I checked on my friends, and chatted with Ulty, Jenny's Player, and Nyxy. I learned Nyxy has a club. I very much enjoyed exploring it quietly. However, when I got by other people, I ordered a drink and tried to get into the conversation only to clam up as I tried to keep up with the conversations, even though I was in the quietest place with people that I could find.  I was just too busy reading to say anything. Eventually I let Nyxy know and left. They were both understanding and reassuring about it not being for everyone. I was barely out when Pierogies said hi. We teamed up, and did two high level individual missions, followed by a low-level story arc. That was quite a contrast, but fun, and took us right up to dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I started writing my daily update, switching to making notes when I got tired. That got more done in a shorter time than browsing the web during breaks but not like when I switched to fiction. I still ended up browsing the web and reading a web comic in one of my breaks. When I got done, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends first, and said hi to some, talking to Ulty and Jenny's player a little more. Then said hi to Dr. Faustus, who invited me to a taskforce that the character I was on - the one Kitten designed - had never done. So, I did it on her with that team. Dr. Faustus left after that, and I worked on the auction house, storage and badges until Pierogies said hi. He was up early, so we teamed up. He wanted to hunt because he didn't feel up to much. Well, our next contact has a small hunt at the beginning, so we started there. When it was done, Pierogies felt up to a mission, then a second mission before saying goodbye. After that, I worked on storage, crafting and the auction house. Then I made notes in this with minimal breaks for web browsing and such. {Smile}

Daily Update, August 23, 2025

On Saturday in the morning, I started writing not long after breakfast. I think I wrote for over an hour, switching back and forth between my daily update and the story I'm revising for my creative writing class. When I'm just writing my daily update, I can't write nearly as long before I get distracted and find myself taking a break. However, with two different writing tasks, I could switch back and forth. I didn't tire nearly as quickly when working on the story anyway, even though it was slow going. I kept needing to compose stuff before writing it. {Smile}

Then in the middle of the afternoon my main nurse took me out. Our first stop was Liliu'okalani Gardens. We parked near the fishing pier and walked through the park to the ice cream parlor for a popsicle. I got a liliko'i cream (passionfruit cream). Then we walked through the park by a different route while I ate my popsicle. Next, we stopped by Safeway and picked up some prescriptions and a few more things. Then we ran another errand before my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

The writing took most of my morning until I stopped to clean myself up with the help of my main nurse. After that, I had lunch while finishing my daily update. Then I browsed on the web a bit before going into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked the auction house and storage and worked on some badges until I went out with my main nurse. After I got back, I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I worked on the auction house and badges until Pierogies said hi. We talked, then did an individual mission. After that, we just hunted, so we could drop it when I was called to dinner.  I think we were both surprised how long the hunting lasted. {Smile}

After dinner I read from Forward Day by Day. Then I browsed on the web a bit before going into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on the auction house and my friends, chatting with Ulty in the game and Nox on Discord, the chat server. Then I spotted Dr. Faustus and said hi. They were in a taskforce, so I fiddled around with a character. They he told me his taskforce had found a giant monster at the end. I joined the league they were forming to help fight the giant monster. Then we left, only for Dr. Faustus to find another group working on a different giant monster. I got in on the tail end of that one, too. After that, we did much of a story arc nearby and squeezed in a badge mission before Dr. Faustus had to leave. Before long, Azurette said hi. They showed me a new part of the base, and I told her about the villain supergroup I belong to, and that they're looking for role players who'd like to join. They showed me a character that they think could work. I later remembered that it sort of almost fits character type from the game that the supergroup draws from. Afterwards, I made notes in this, with only a break to check with Azurette about the character. {Smile}
