Daily Update, May 11, 2026

The night before Monday, I got to bed barely before two, but it was before two. So, I met my first goal. I'm re-thinking whether I want to go to 8:30, or even a bit earlier. I'll see. {Smile}

Right after Breakfast, I called my financial adviser. She was actually free, so they transferred me to talk to her directly, instead of taking a message or having her call me back. That was a pleasant surprise. {Smile}

A while after breakfast, my relief nurse took me down to Auntie Sally's Luau Hale for my First Timer's Line Dancing Class. I arrived slightly early. It went very well. Two dances were new to us: one that was just a month old, and the other that's been around, but we hadn't done it before. They and the rest were all fun, though one was a bit fast, especially when done to the faster of two pieces it fits. After class, my relief nurse took me home. {Smile}

I forgot that I had a dental appointment. They called to reschedule when I didn't show up. It will be a few months before they had a couple of opening. I took the second one because it fits my schedule better. I talked with my relief nurse, and we're planning more calendars to keep track of this better, as well as doing a better job of checking those calendars. If I had checked properly, I should have seen it, since it was marked. {smile}

After I got home, I read Forward Day by Day over lunch, which I ate with my relief nurse. Then I went onto my computer. I browsed articles and videos and read comics through much of the afternoon, both before and after the call from my dentist's office rescheduling my appointment with them. Eventually I wrote up Sunday's daily update. I realized it was too late to play City of Heroes: Homecoming before dinner when that was done. I told a few friends I'd be late. Dennis was sorry but warned me he might not stay on long enough to team after dinner. I wished him a goodnight. I tried to read some books during dinner but didn't get far with anything. {Smile}

After dinner, I read a few comics. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and didn't find Dennis. I talked with Seb, Jenny's Player, and Ulty. All seemed busy, so I decided to collect a couple of badges on my second-best badge collector. I got one of the badges before Dr. Faustus said hi. We talked about teaming up while I worked on the other badge. I got the second and last badge I was working on just as I was getting ready to quit and team up with Dr. Fautus. We did team up after that and ran a contact of mine who had a story arc until we finished the story arc and a couple of individual missions afterwards, finishing the contact entirely. Next, we started anther contact. Somewhere along the way. Seb joined us. A few missions into the second contact, Dr. Faustus left. So did Seb. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage, crafting, as well as working on a few badges. After that, I read comics, watched a few videos, and browsed on Amazon. Then I wrote in this, switching to making notes in this after a while. I checked and shut down CoH:H in a couple of breaks. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 10, 2026

The night before Sunday, I got to bed a little after 1:30. Between 1:30 and 1:45 is my second goal, so I was very happy, especially since I thought I could sleep to my usual Sunday time of 8:45 am and the get to church about when it begins. {smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me down to church. It had started at 9 am, not 10 am, as it does once a month, so we can see some folks who normally go to the early service, and they can see some of the folks who go to the later service. It was also Morning Prayer, which is a shorter service than Holy Communion. Between those two facts, it was almost done.  I did get the personal announcements, the last few prayers, the final hymn, and the dismissal, so I didn't miss everything, at least. {Smile}

I had the full lunch on the lanai, and it was big, as it usually is after a combined service. I talked with Katie, with the Daughters of the King. She offered to take me to the special lunch next week after the service, then to take me home. I told her to consult Steve, since he handles my transportation. She did, and he agreed to her plan, so I have that to look forward to. I sat with Auntie Barbara, and the friends Babs, her hanai granddaughter, and I made at the last joint service, though Babs and her hanai granddaughter weren't there. I chatted with all of them happily and even got invited to an online writing group by my younger friend. It overlaps with my in-person Creative Writing: Memoirs class, but I'll see what I can do, because it is more geared towards fiction, which I write. My main nurse took me home afterwards. I played Cross Stitch World both on the way down and the way back. {Smile}

In the afternoon, my substitute relief nurse came to pick up her stuff. I'm so glad she could. When a nurse leaves, there's often stuff left behind. Frequently we don't get to return it. I'm so glad we did this time. {Smile}

Back at home, I got onto my computer. I browsed articles and videos. I also read web comics. Then I wrote up Saturday's daily update. My substitute relief nurse came to pick up her stuff. Next, I cleaned up with the help of my main nurse. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked the in-game auction house, and then my friends who play the game. I said hi to Seb and Kitten. Kitten and I teamed up with me on Seameownt, and ran a few of my missions. I finished a contact. I've been trying for a while to finish some, since five claim to be near the end. It was a relief to finally get one. {Smile}

Over dinner, I read Forward Day by Day. After dinner, I read comics and watched videos. I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming before too long. I checked on my friends who play the game. I said hi to Seb, Ulty, Jenny's Player, and Kitten. Seb was roleplaying. Ulty and Jenny's Player were in a taskforce. Those can't be joined after they start. Kitten wasn't busy, so we teamed up again, and ran several more of my missions. I finished a second contact. Then Seb joined us We ran a few more missions, and I finished a third contact. I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere, though I still have a lot to do. Next, Seb went to bed, and Kitten went quiet. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Seameownt. After that, I wrote in this. I broke to start a bibliography for my little article. Then I went back to this. I finished a sentence, then switched to making notes in this. Next, I checked on my friends who play the game. I also checked the in-game auction house. I even checked Cross Stitch World before I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daugthers of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 9, 2026

The morning before Saturday, I got to bed several minutes before 2 am. That's every day since the night before Monday. I'm really noticing a lack of tiredness, and even some more energy. I feel much better Now I just need to keep it up, and dare I say improve it a bit? {SMILE}

I wrote a bit more of the little article I started earlier this week, about the snow goddesses of Hawai'i. I'd told a little about them, but now I added speculation about two more, and a brief summary of a known legend about the most famous one. {Smile}

My housekeeper and her husband came to clean the roof again. She liked my little article, and liked getting the expanded version, though she didn't have time to read it then. She did say she'd found a longer story in email, though she hasn't had time to read it yet. {Smile}

Not too long after lunch, my main nurse and I went out. We stopped first at the Ice Cream Parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens I tried a banana cream popsicle, which I hadn't gotten to before. As I hoped, it was pureed banana mixed with whatever they use for their creamy flavor, and frozen. I ate it on the way to Prince Kuhio Plaza. My main nurse and I walked around the plaza. Afterwards, we did a few errands on the way home. On all legs and stops for errands, I played Cross Stitch World on my phone, except when I was eating the Popsicle between the Ice Cream Parlor and Prince Kuhio Plaza. {Smile}

I read Forward Day by Day over breakfast. After breakfast, I got onto my computer, and read articles and watch videos, continuing right over lunch. Then I wrote up the rest of Friday's daily update before our trip out. After we got back, I talked with my Housekeeper briefly. Then I wrote more of the little article I started earlier in the week. I printed a copy for my housekeeper and gave it to her. Next, I got back onto my computer and went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. Kitten mewed at me almost immediately. We teamed up with me on Seameownt, the character they designed, and began running missions. Dennis joined us near the end of the second or third one. We fit in one or two more. Then I checked on my friends who play the game before I left for dinner. During dinner, I watched a show my main nurse had on. It was just interesting enough to keep me from reading. {Smile}

After dinner, I returned to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and found Dennis. He'd sent Kitten to bed when they fell asleep. Dennis and I teamed up finish a mission and do another, both his. Then Dennis left, and I worked on the in-game auction house, storage, and crafting. I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, Dr. Faustus said hi. I got melee-ranged Olga, and we teamed up. We continued the story arc we'd started with Mysty. She was busy when I checked. Seb chatted with us. He was busy roleplaying. He joined us after a few missions. Kitten joined us during the last mission, awake after a few hours of sleep. After that, Dr. Faustus left because of work. Seb left too, "missioned out." I switched back to Seameownt, and we ran three or four missions before we said goodnight. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Seameownt and Olga. Then I read an article. I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming to check the in-game auction house on a few more characters. I also checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I started writing this. I switched to making notes here. After that, I checked Cross Stitch World. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 8, 2026

The night before Friday, I got to bed a few minutes before 2 am again. I hope I am establishing a new habit. That would be so nice! I do notice I'm better rested when I keep getting to bed before 2 am, especially when I'm still getting up around 9 am, which I have been. {Smile, cross fingers hopefully}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me down to Kaman Senior center for my ballroom dance class. I was one of the first students there. The fellow who keeps role checked that I wanted next session, which I certainly do. Class went well. I remembered most of the beginner moves and reviewed those I'd forgotten. I also reviewed the first intermediate move and learned the second with its name attached. I danced with the teacher, his assistant, and a couple of the gals. I also danced with myself near the end, practicing the intermediate moves in particular. After class, my main nurse took me back home. I played Cross Stitch World both on the down, and on the way back. {Smile}

After I got home from class, I got onto my computer. I watched videos over lunch. Then I wrote up Thursday's daily update. I also checked Discord, the chat server, and found several messages, including one from Mysty asking about the meeting. I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends who play the game. I talked to Mysty, who asked if the meeting had started. No, it hadn't started, but yes, it was that day. She came and brought two friends... make that three... no, four. Yes, I brought five brand new people to meet our group. We had six regulars, including Dr. Faustus, our leader, the longtime regular, Seb's Marius, the new gal I brought in a few weeks back, and myself. We roleplayed a fair while. Then we hunted a particularly tough giant monster who's often hunted by more than one team, since we did have more than a team's worth of people. Then the leader and the regular left, followed by Dr. Faustus, Seb, and one of the new folks. Turned out the new one that left and Seb got together separately, since they know each other. The rest of us started to roleplay and ended up in the base of a friend of Mysty's. I left when I got called to dinner. {Smile}

I read Forward Day by Day during dinner. After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I said hi to Mysty and got reinvited to the group. I checked on my friends who play the game and tried to get into roleplaying with them. I found myself checking Discord and kept up there better than with the roleplaying. I apologized for not joining but just couldn't get into the topic. I was trying to work up to leaving, but to my relief, they changed the topic. The new choice was more interesting. Then then one of Mysty's friends and the new gal left for bed. We continued to roleplay. Another friend left, and Mysty, the last friend of hers remaining and I toured a favorite base of mine. Next, we said goodnight. Not finding any auction house, storage or crafting form the monster hunt, I fixed up two characters to make them fit a new idea for them. I'm trying to make them "minikin," as I call my own not-quite-hobbit-like group of people. After that, I wrote in this. Then I checked and played a little Cross Stitch World and read some comics Then I made notes in this, with a break to read more comics. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 7, 2026

The night before Thursday, I got to bed a bit before 2 am. Dare I hope this is becoming a habit? That would be nice! {SMILE}

At breakfast, I started to sign into HMSA's patient portal, where patients can talk to doctors without leaving home. HMSA is my health insurance and hosts my counselling sessions. I say start to, because where it checks my health plan and confirms I don't have to pay, it failed to find my health insurance. So, they tried to charge me over $73. A few tries, some texts, a phone call, two more tries, more texts, a new invite, and one more try, and they finally found my health plan, so I didn't need the coupon code I'd called them for after all. However, they failed to connect the video, possibly because I didn't remember to plug in my microphone and camera early enough. There was no way to retry like there was before they installed a new system at the beginning of the month. However, they did provide a phone call. My counselor and I couldn't see each other, so I couldn't read lips, but we did talk by phone. We started over half an hour late, but she had half an hour before her next appointment, so we got most of an hour. We talked about a lot of important stuff. So, the session itself was good. Just the login was all messed up. {wry, worn smile}

Then at lunch, I signed into HMSA's patient portal for my appointment with my nutritionist. This time it worked on the first try... for maybe half my appointment. That's when my main nurse came in and said a few things. When he was done, my nutritionist was gone from the screen. She soon came back, but acted like she couldn't hear me, and I'm not sure she could see me either. I tried to reload, and it disconnected me and offered me a phone call instead. So, we finished the appointment by phone call, taking not quite the full half hour between video and phone. I suppose it's good that they have a new system. I just hope they get it working soon. It's two weeks until my next counselling appointment, so I'll learn how much they've fixed then. {smile}

Between my appointments, I just got ready for the rest of my day. After my second appointment, I read comics and watched videos over lunch. Then I read a few more comics before I wrote up Wednesday's daily update. I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends who play the game. Mysty said hi, and invited me to a "fire farm" she was running. I picked a character, Ignacia, who's good at flinging fire, but isn't particularly tough. I entered the first mission. I listened to the gals who were just sitting while Mysty farmed. Soon I tried going separately, but the mobs were too much for Ignacia by herself, so I sat and talked with the other sitters. When I got bored, I went back, this time trying to help Mysty take down things a little faster. That worked. We finished the first long mission and started the next. When I got tired, I went back to talking with the sitters. Before the mission was quite done, I left to clean myself up with the help of my main nurse. Next, I went back to find they'd started another mission. I joined the mission and started talking with the sitters only to get called for dinner. {Smile}

I read forward Day by Day and Demon World Boba Shop Vol. 1 during dinner. After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. They had a new farmer who had picked a mission I couldn't enter. however, they restarted so I could join them. I checked on my friends who play the game during the restart. I tried helping, then talked with the sitters before helping some more. Then I talked with Mysty, who'd handed it to someone else when she'd gotten the levels she wanted. Next, I talked with Dr. Faustus, who'd assumed I was busy when they saw me on a team. I waited until they finished the mission, then left to join Dr. Faustus. We expected a supergroup mate to join us who didn't show, so I checked on my friends who play the game again. After that, we got together. Mysty joined us just as we were getting ready to start a new story arc for Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member. We three slowly did the first two missions, slowed by talking animatedly out-of-character, and occasionally in-character, too. Mysty and Dr. Faustus really hit it off, in my estimation. Along the way, we invited Mysty to our supergroup. She planned to check it out the next day. We'll see how that works out. After the second mission, we showed her part of our supergroup. Seb joined us for this on Marius, his villain supergroup member. I think he hit it off with Mysty, too. Then we parted. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Next, I checked and played a little Cross Stitch World. After that, I wrote in this. I started watching a video, then broke to make notes in this, watching a little more of the video as a break before I finished. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 6, 2026

The night before Wednesday, I got to bed a few minutes before 2 am. It wasn't quite as early as the previous two nights, but it still meets my first goal. {Smile}

In the afternoon, my housekeeper and her husband came to clean the roof. It's definitely looking better. I didn't realize how much it needed a good cleaning. I'm so glad this is getting done! {SMILE}

After dinner, my main nurse took me down to the Church of the Holy Cross for my ballroom dancing classes. Termites were swarming when we started, but they eased off over the evening. I thought the first part - Ballroom Dance: Bolero - went particularly well. Ballroom Dance: Country Two-Step is going distinctly slower. They did introduce a new turn... unfortunately, it involves three half-circle pivots in a row, and my severe permanent vertigo gave a hard nope to more than one. I'm trying to work out a cheat. That's a move that's technically wrong, and usually looks wrong to anyone watching, but gets you where you need to be for the next part of the dance. I'm hoping one extra non-turning step might do the trick, but I shall see. After class, my main nurse took me home, quite happy with how much exercise I got. I played Cross Stitch World both ways. {Smile}

Over breakfast, I read Forward Day by Day. After breakfast, I got onto my computer. I watched videos and read comics right through lunch. A little while after lunch, my housekeeper and her husband came and my housekeeper and I talked at some length. Some writing ideas gelled, and I wrote them up. Then I wrote up Tuesday's daily update. I also printed a copy of the newest writing for my housekeeper. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. During that, Mysty said hi. She invited me to join some roleplaying she planned to do with a friend I joined her and several new friends of hers in roleplaying until housekeeper need me. I rejoined after only to get called to dinner by my main nurse, because dinners are a little early on Wednesdays because of my dance class. {Smile}

After I got back from class, I got onto my computer. I read a few comics, then went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. Dr Faustus said hi while I was checking on my friends who play the game. We teamed up and did some missions, both theirs and mine. We did enough of mine to finish a story arc and do one more mission from the contact but not finish that contact. then we said goodnight. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Next, I checked and played Cross Stitch World. After that, I wrote in this. Then I read a few comics before starting to make notes in this. I checked videos when I needed a break before finishing notes in this. I finished my evening with the lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 5th, 2026

Tuesday was May 5th. If you celebrate Boy's Day then, with the Japanese, happy Boy's Day. If you celebrate Cinco de mayo with the Mexicans, happy Cinco de Mayo. If you celebrate something else, i hope it went great. If you didn't celebrate anything, I hope you had a nice day. Still, I can't help remembering Dad bringing up Pogo Possum, who, when told that the fifth day of the fifth moon was Chinese Dragon Boat Day, declared "Dem fifths is great for celebrating." Then he'd explain about fifths being a common measure for hard liquor, since I don't drink. {Chuckles}

The night before Tuesday, I got to bed a bit after 8:45. First goal met, which is a huge relief after I missed it a few times last week. {Smile}

After breakfast, I did some freewriting. I am searching for the problem that keeps my stories stuck or flowing slowly at best by writing what came to me when I thought about it. I think I found it right when I needed to leave for class. Still, that means I found it, and I can search for solutions later. The problem is: "How can I give my own characters richer, fuller lives without hurting my own social life?" {SMILE}

Before lunch, my relief nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my Creative Writing Class. It went well. I found the lecture interesting. I also had something to share for our small groups, though it was just freewriting about why I was having trouble getting back into writing "One May Day. " I helped both of my partners with their pieces, too. I got my free writing from last week back from my teacher with comments. I hope they'll help me too. Then, after class, my main nurse took me back home. {Smile}

I read Forward Day by Day over breakfast. After I got back from class, I watched a couple of videos and read a few comics, but not the intense searching I've been doing recently. Maybe the freewriting is helping. I wrote some of Monday's daily update, then stopped to go into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I got Aneira and went to her teen supergroup's base. I searched for a crafting table to use while I waited for the meeting to start because I had something that can be made at one. Our leader's alternate character even commented at how I was running around. I hadn't noticed her in passing; I only noticed her comment later. That started a conversation when I did find her. We continued to roleplay as others arrived, including Jenny's Player, Nyxy, and the new gal, each on one of their characters. We chose to do a strike force for villains, which didn't fit our heroic group, but it was shorter than the taskforce alternative, so it fit someone's schedule much better. Afterwards, we did a little more roleplaying in our supergroup's base, but it broke up soon afterwards. This gave me time to do some of the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Aneira before dinner. {Smile}

I had tacos for dinner with my relief nurse while re-reading Forward Day by Day. After dinner, I wrote up the rest of Wednesday's Daily update. Then I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Kitten soon came in, and we got together. Seb said hi, but didn't join at that time. Kitten and I finished a story arc that I had on Seameownt, the character Kitten designed. Seb joined near the end. When the story arc was done, we started doing individual missions from the same contact. Next, Kitten left, too tired to continue. After a few more missions, we reached a set of missions I didn't have time for. We did an individual mission from another contact, then a mission from yet another contact. After that, Seb and I said goodnight. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Seameownt. Next, I checked Cross Stitch World. Then I wrote in this, soon shifting to making notes in this. I finished my evening by saying the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 5, 2026

The night before Monday, I got to bed a bit after 1:45. I got started so early, I hoped it would be fore, but I got distracted a couple of times. i do need to work on that, but hey, at least I met my first goal. I got up around 9 am, feeling pretty well-rested. {Smile}

I got up to find my regular relief nurse waiting for me. After breakfast, he took me down to auntie Sally's Luau Hale for my first Timer's Line Dance Class. I got there slightly early and got to talk with a couple of the folks, as well as sing in properly, which I tend to forget to do. Thankfully, someone had been noting my presence right along. After class, y relief nurse picked me up and took me home. I played Cross Stitch World both on the way down and on the way back, along with talking with my relief nurse. {Smile}

When we got home, I ate lunch with my relief nurse. I also read Forward Day by Day over lunch, along with talking with my relief nurse. After lunch, I got onto my computer. I did a mix of watching videos and reading comics, until I realized I was stuck in them, somehow not finding what I wanted. I made myself stop, and quickly finished my daily update, which was almost all written already. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked the in-game auction house. I talked with Seb as I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I played by myself on Yenna, the tribute character to a friend I lost, trying to get her a little higher level. She's moderately low-level, and she's almost ready to go up a few levels, though she'll still be moderately low-level. I continued until dinner, and read a novel, Demon World Boba Shop Vol. 1_, over dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I went back to my computer. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and checked on my friends who play the game. I also checked the in-game auction house. Next, I did a bit more on Yenna, followed by a bit more of the in-game auction house. I also checked on my friends who play the game. I said hi to Seb, and we talked. We started to team up on high-level characters when Dr. Faustus said hi. However, Dr. Faustus wanted to work on a mid-level character. I joined Seb. We did a mission of his, and a story arc of mine. Kitten said hi, then joined us. Dragons said hi too, but was too low-level to join, and didn't want to switch. After the story arc, Seb left, as did Kitten. I switched to Peony, my younger Hobbit, and joined Dr. Faustus. We did several missions of theirs before they left. I worked on the in-game auction house and storage, then checked on my friends who play the game. After that, I wrote in this. I broke to check and play a little Cross Stitch World, and later to read a comic and an article. I switched to making notes in this. Then I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 3, 2026

The night before Sunday, in spite of trying to get to bed early because I knew I'd have an early morning, I didn't manage to get to bed until right around 2:15 am. I still got up at 8:45 am, since church starts at ten, and I need time to get ready and go down there. I did drowse both on the way down, and on the way back, which helped. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me down to church. I drowsed on the way down, because I knew I had half an hour of sleep missed the night before. Church started the announcements before the service proper right as we walked into the building. I sat with my main nurse, and I did enjoy the service. Auntie Barbara came and joined us when Sunday School finished. we again had more than one family at Sunday school, which is wonderful. {Smile}

After the service was our usual lunch on the lanai. for the first part, I sat with Auntie Barbara, who wanted to sit with one of the newer families in Sunday School. She chatted with the mother in particular. When she got up, so did I. I sat between two people I meant to talk to, but they were both busy talking with others. While waiting, I realized that my cousin Babs and her granddaughter were at another table, so I went and sat with them. I had a nice chat with both, especially with Babs. When we got up because they were clearing the space, I tracked down one of the people, and we talked a bit. I missed the other person; I'll have to catch her some other time. After we were done, my main nurse took me back home. I drowsed again most of the way back. {Smile}

After we got home, I settled down on my computer. I watched a few videos. Then I wrote this up. I did take a break to watch another video before finishing writing about my day so far in this. Next, I wrote some of Saturday's daily update and read a few comics. After that, I wrote a little more of this before stopping to take a nap. After my nap, I read some comics until it was late enough, I went right into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I did a little with the in-game auction house. Seb said hi, and we quickly teamed up on Anka and the character who'd started a story arc with her. Jenny's Player invited me to a taskforce, but I declined because getting Seb's and my characters free seemed more important, as well as easier to fit in before dinner. Seb and I did a few more missions in that story arc before dinner, but we didn't quite finish. Over dinner and a bit afterwards, I read Forward Day by Day, in part because my main nurse was watching one of those tell-all shows that was doing a particularly good job of distracting me from my reading. {Smile}

After dinner, I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. Then I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming and got back together with Seb. We one or two more missions, finishing the story arc. Then I did some work with the in-game auction house, storage, and crafting. I also checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I did a few hunts on Lynn, Anka's younger sister. After that I printed out the file I'd written in yesterday, for my class on Tuesday. Then I searched my books on Hawaiian Legends for anything about Poliahu, the goddess of Mauna Kea and its snow. I found four and read part of one before I went back to my computer. I got Yenna, a character I made in honor of a friend who died long before I could share City of Heroes with and started to do a mission on her before I realized it was too late. I checked on my friends who play the game, and did some auction house and storage on Yenna. Next, I wrote more in this, pausing for more auction house on Yenna. I had it mostly written early enough, I read a couple of comics and still headed to bed at a better time than usual. I finished my day with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 2, 2026

The night before Saturday, I got to bed a little after 2 am. It's been worse, but I'd prefer earlier. I'll just have to keep working at it. {Smile}

Over an hour after lunch, my main nurse and I went out. First, we went to the Ice Cream Parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens, and I picked out an Orange Cream popsicle. I ate it while we drove over to Prince Kuhio Plaza. There, we walked around all the stores. They were having an Astronomy Day, with tables manned by some of the telescopes, and 'Imiloa Astronomy Center, a local museum, but we didn't stop at any. then my main nurse took me home. I played Cross Stitch World on the way down and the way back but was too busy eating my popsicle between the park and Prince Kuhio Plaza. {Smile}

During breakfast, I talked with main nurse. After breakfast, I read a couple of articles, then watched a whole bunch of videos right through lunch. Next, I read a few comics before I began writing Friday's daily update. I paused to go out with my main nurse. When we got back, I got back onto my computer, and finished writing up Friday's daily update, taking breaks to read more comics. After that, I watched another video before dinner. During dinner, Forward Day by Day, and a little of the novel _Demon World Boba Shop 1_. {Smile}

After dinner, I wrote a little about my story that's still stuck, so I have done something for my writing class. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. I talked with Seb, and we got together and tried to roleplay, but the characters we picked just didn't click. So, I switched to Olga while he stayed on Marius, since I know those two click. We roleplayed while doing a couple of missions with three talks in between. Then we stopped for more dedicated roleplaying until I asked about another character he'd mentioned. I learned this other character is psychic and got Anka while Seb got the other character. We started a story arc together. We stopped after a few missions, but planned to play again the next day, since our characters will be less available for other stuff until we finish. I wrote a little in this during a pause in playing, and a little more in another break. After we parted, I worked on the in-game auction house and storage. Then I made noes in this. I paused to do some crafting and auction house in City of Heroes: Homecoming. and to write a little more about the stuck story. Then I finished my notes in this. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, May 1, 2026

I hope you had a happy May Day if you celebrate it! If not, I hope you had a nice day! {SMILE}

The night before Friday, I got to bed not many minutes after 2 am. Still late, but not as late as the night before, by a margin. I wasn't tired much during the day, either. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my ballroom dance class. I t was a small class, possibly because it was quite rainy at first. I danced with the same fellow as last week, the teacher, the teacher's assistant, and one of the women. I practiced all the beginning steps, getting the only one I was struggling with down over the class. The teacher and his assistant separately led me through the first few intermediate steps. I was even feeling confident with the first intermediate step by the end of the class. The teacher demonstrated how I shadow him again, which was fun. It was educational, for me as well as others. Some congratulated me afterwards. when it was done, my main nurse took me home. I played Cross Stitch World on the way down and also on the way back. {Smile}

After I got home, I ate lunch while watching a few videos and reading comics well into the afternoon. Then I wrote up Thursday's daily update before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I checked my villain supergroup. No one was where we normally meet yet, so I worked on my beginning of the weekend auction house on a few characters. After that, I went back to my villain supergroup. This time, Dr. Faustus was there. They were concerned we were the only ones, so I messaged Seb and the new gal. While I talked with them, the longtime regular showed up, followed by our leader, then Seb, and lastly, the fellow I first met the night before. We did the last mission of the story arc we mostly ran the week before. Then we did most of the sequel. We stopped with two missions to go. It was early for us to stop, but two needed to leave then, so we saved the rest for next week. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Then I worked on getting a limited-time badge on most of my characters. I got thoroughly bored because it's particularly simple. I started talking with Dennis on Discord, the chat server. I stopped working on the badge to join Dennis when he came into City of Heroes: Homecoming. We teamed up and did the fourth-to-the-last mission in a story arc Midori Neko, a catgirl of mine. has. It got us closer to an enemy Dennis wanted for a character-improving badge. After that, I broke for dinner, during which I read Forward Day by Day and a little of the novel, "Demon World Boba Shop." {Smile}

After dinner I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I looked for Dennis while checking on my friends who play the game but didn't spot him. So, I checked the auction house on several characters. Then I finished working on that badge I was so bored by earlier. Next, I began to hunt by myself on Seameownt, the character Kitten designed.  I paused hunting to get a particularly tough giant monster on Seameownt. After that, Dennis came in. I switched to Midori Neko, and we did the last three missions of that story arc. We successfully got the enemy he wanted at the end of the last mission. Then we said goodnight, and Dennis left. Next, I started to hunt by myself on Midori Neko. I talked with Seb until he decided to join me. We finished my current hunt together, then did two or three missions Midori had before we said goodnight. After that, I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Then I wrote a little in this. I checked Cross Stitch World, then began notes in this. I broke to read comics before I finished making notes in this. Then I wrote a tiny bit more in this. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 30, 2026

The night before Thursday, I got to bed a while before 2:15 am. I was slow getting ready for bed because I kept checking the farm. I really need to leave earlier, despite pressure to just leave my character. I hoped I could get ready around it, but it slowed me down too much. {small smile}

When I got up, I found a text from Auntie Barbara. She was hoping to come between 10:30 am and 11 am. She did when I was just finishing getting ready for the day after a leisurely breakfast. We had a lovely visit. She fixed the necklace that holds two crosses, including my Daughters of the King cross. She's a retired jeweler, so I was certain she'd do a better job than I could, and she did.  She also admired the jewelry I found and showed her. She said I need to wear it more, and yes, I think I do. {SMILE}

Over breakfast, I read both Forward Day by Day and a novel. Then, after Auntie Barbara left, I read more of the novel until lunch. That's when I shifted to watching videos through lunch and a bit after, initially to make sure I didn't get food on the book. Next, I read comics for a good while. After that, I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. Then I went back to computer, and finally City of Heroes: Homecoming much closer to- dinner than usual. I checked on my friends who play the game and said hi to Kitten and Dennis. I joined them and Dennis's friend a few quick missions. Dennis lost a contact he wanted to work on a badge with and hadn't gotten to that part yet. I promised to check my characters to see if any still had it. Next, I broke for dinner, with more of the novel. {Smile}

After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked characters for Dennis and found that two of the four who are the right level for the contact Dennis wants haven't finished the story arc that has what Dennis wants at the end. I told Dennis, Kitten and Pierogies in a shared conversation on Discord. Then I checked on my friends in the game. I said hi to Dr. Faustus and Seb on Discord. Then I said hi to Seb in the game and joined him while waiting for Dr. Faustus. I didn't wait long. they came on and I joined them. Seb and the villain supergroup's leader on an alternate character joined us fairly quickly. We finished the story arc we'd just started a previous day, then split up, with our leader leaving a mission early because of computer trouble. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Next, I worked on a badge. After that, I wrote in this, taking a sh9ort break for Cross Stitch World, and a long break to read comics. Then I quickly made notes in this. I finished my evening with The Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 29, 2026

The night before Wednesday, I got to bed a while after 2 am, because of waiting for the farm to finish. I got up around 9 am as usual but luckily didn't notice much trouble with being tired. {Smile}

After dinner, my main nurse took me down to the Church of the Holy Cross for our mid-session free dance night of my ballroom dancing class. Instead of the regular lessons, we had a kind of party. We didn't have food, but we had a variety of music to dance to all session, including two line dances, and a range of other dance types, not just the two we've been learning. I danced with several partners, including a woman, but mostly men. I dance with a few more than once, including the woman. After class, my main nurse took me back home. {Smile}

During Breakfast, I read Forward Day by Day. After breakfast, I got onto my computer. I checked a couple of articles and watched a few videos, but I mostly read comics through lunch. Then I wrote up Tuesday's daily update. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and talked with Seb and Kitten. I teamed up with Kitten with me on Anka. Seb joined at the last moment. We ran a story arc that got Anka a badge. I also learned about a learned about a single mission that precedes it that ought to get her another badge. We broke for dinner early. {Smile}

After dinner, I went to my class. When I got back from my class, I got onto my computer. I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. Dr. Faustus said hi. So did Kitten. We were slow getting together, but I got Seameownt, the character Kitten designed, and we worked on a story arc. Kitten went quiet and faded out after a mission or two. Dr. Faustus and I did several missions before they left. I squeezed in writing a little of this, then began working on the in-game auction house and crafting on Seameownt. Then Dennis said hi, and we finished a different story arc on Seameownt. I made notes in this. taking a break to check and play Cross Stitch World. I also read one comic during a second break. I should not have done such long breaks, because I was late for bed, but I did end my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 28, 2026

The night before Tuesday, i got to be a few minutes before 2 am. I could have come earlier, since I'd gotten done with some stuff early, but I didn't realize I wanted to do that in time. Well, next time. {rueful smile}

When I got up, my regular relief nurse greeted me. We talked a lot over the day, catching up, since it had been months since we'd talked much or seen each other. He assures me he's better, though still healing. It's just wonderful to have him back, even if it's just one day a week. {Smile}

Before lunch, my relief nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my Creative Writing class. My teacher was happy that when I found myself stuck on what to do next, I "free wrote" about being stuck and some options I saw for going forward. I found the lecture quite interesting, and enjoyed both critiquing a partner's writing, and sharing my own. I feel fairly confident about how to proceed with the story I've been working on. The story I want to start working on as well isn't as ready for me, but maybe another week of free writing will help. After class, my regular relief nurse took me back home. On the way down to class and also on the way back, I talked with my regular relief nurse more than I played Cross Stitch World, but I did do both, and both ways. {Smile}

After I got home, I talked with my regular relief nurse some more before I got onto my computer. I watched a couple of short videos and read a few short comics. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming, and got Aneira, my higher-level teen supergroup member. I Seemed to be the first to arrive at our weekly teen supergroup meeting. I checked on my friends who play the game and played with Aneira's costume for a bit. Then I checked around again and discovered Nyxy's Pella talking with Ulty's and Jenny's player's new characters. I joined in roleplaying telling them about our supergroup. The most regular guy came in and joined us. Eventually, we ran a short taskforce. Then we went back to our supergroup base to roleplay afterwards. Jenny's player left to work on something, and I had Aneira nap while I ate dinner with my regular relief nurse. I did squeeze in reading Forward Day by Day. We also talked a fair bit. {Smile}

After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. Aneira woke up to find folks still talking. Out of character, we talked about badges. Nyxy remembered one she wanted and invited everyone to come along. We did; even Jenny's Player joined the badge run. I switched to Anka, my best badge collector, who didn't have the badge. We ran it, and I got the badge. Then our team broke up. I read comics. Then I found a note from Dr. Faustus on Discord. I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming to find Dr. Faustus with Seb in a taskforce. I worked on a new badge on many characters while I waited for them. When they were done, we three teamed up with me on melee Olga. We finished the story that changed contacts in the middle. One of Seb's friends joined near the end. We started a more vaguely related story arc with one mission. Olga gained a level, so I turned off experience to not miss content. Our team broke up, and I trained for the level. Next, I found an invitation to a farm. Anka, my best badge collector, sat it while I wrote some in this, then made notes in it. After that, I completed an order on Amazon that Jason requested and messaged him about it. I kept checking the farm, but the farmer didn't want me pulling out early. They finished in time for me to shut down, but I was a little late for bed. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 27, 2026

The night before Monday, I got to bed a little before 2 am. That meets my first goal, so that's good. {Smile}

After breakfast, my substitute relief nurse took me to my First Timers' Line Dance Class. However, as we were getting ready to go, we wanted to make sure where it was and had trouble finding the schedule that said. We did find it and confirmed that it was at Auntie Sally's Luau Hale, but I was about six minutes late. It was a good class, with a variety of songs, from a brand new one we'd never done, to some old favorites. After class, my substitute relief nurse took me to the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens. I had a sweet potato popsicle on the way home. {Smile}

After I got home, I went onto my computer. I watched some videos and read many comics well into the afternoon. Then I finished writing up Sunday's daily update before I checked City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. I also check the in-game auction house on a few characters. Then I started to do missions by myself on Seameownt, the character Kitten designed. During the second or third mission, Dennis said hi and joined me. We finished that mission and did one more before I left for supper. I read both Forward Day by Day and part of a novel with supper. {Smile}

After supper, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I did a little badge work Dennis mentioned. I also checked on my friends who play the game. I said hi to Seb. We talked and teamed up to hunt together in a favorite zone of his. Then we worked on two statistic-enhancing badges for Seb's character. Next, we went back to hunting, this time in a favorite zone of mine for that. Eventually, we said goodnight. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. After that I wrote in this. Then I checked Cross Stitch World and played a little of it before starting to make notes in this. I took two breaks to go back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. One was to work on some badges again, and the other to check on my friends who play the game again. Then I finished early enough, I worked a little on a couple more badges. though I realize if I really want to make my bedtime earlier, I need to take better advantage of finishing up early by getting off the computer early. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 26, 2026

 The night before Sunday, I got to bed a bit after two. That's less than ideal, particularly when I got up at 1:45 to give me a little more time to get to church. It did work, and drowsing on the way to church and back home afterwards did help. I still felt tired afterwards, though I'm not sure how much was lack of sleep, how much was dehydration, and how much was blood sugar. {Smile}

After church, my main nurse took me to church. I drowsed on the way down, trying to rest more tan I have been doing, and arrived before the announcements. those started early, but just as I was sitting down in my seat. I liked the service, and the lunch afterwards. That was surprisingly large, especially since several members didn't stay, because they were catching the buss the church had arranged to take folks to Waimea, a country town also called Kamuela, to meet candidates for our next priest.

Auntie Barbara was back in town as of Friday. She greeted me before the service, since she was on greeter duty today. then she taught Sunday School and was delighted to have seven students in three families. My cousin Babs and her hanai granddaughter came on time this time, too. We sat together after lunch, so Auntie Barbara and Babs have now met. They have done so years ago, but if so, it was long enough, introductions made everyone more comfortable. After lunch, my main nurse took me back home. I drowsed again on the way. {Smile}

My housekeeper and her husband, my new handyman, were working on my house when I got home. My house is much better for their attentions. I told her I'd sent my story, and she promised to check. It probably got caught by her spam filter. {Smile}

After I got home from church, I got onto my computer. I watched a few videos and read comics before I wrote up Saturday's daily update. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game, and also on the auction house. I chatted with friends on Discord, the chat server, especially Nox, Kitten, Pierogies and Dennis. Then I cleaned up with the help of my main nurse. I checked on my friends in City of Heroes: Homecoming again before I had dinner while reading Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

After dinner, I watched a few videos and read a comic before I went back into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I talked with Dennis and Kitten, who'd just finished a taskforce together. Dennis needed a break. Kitten was acting awfully tired before going quiet. Next, I messaged Seb and Dr. Faustus on Discord. Seb said he was tired, and going to bed. I wrote up thoughts on a story I might work on again, the one that my housekeeper and cousin got copies of recently if their spam traps weren't too efficient. Then, I printed out the thoughts on both stories for class with main nurse's help. despite it being late. My nurse insists I should work earlier. I will try. After that, I went back to my computer. I found note on Discord from Dr. Faustus and responded. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and found Dr. Faustus. We teamed up with me on melee Olga and picked a story arc of hers. We did it... or the first half of it. We reached the end of the first contact. He passed us on to his superior as our next contact to continue a very much not finished story. Next, we said goodnight. We will do next part of the story another day. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting, then wrote some of this. I switched to making notes in this with breaks to check and play a little Cross Stitch World, work on some badges in City of Heroes: Homecoming and shop a bit on Amazon. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Sunday, April 26, 2026

Daily Update, April 25, 2026

The night before Saturday, I got to be a little before 2 am. First target met! I'm probably happier about that than is quite warranted, but I've gotten to bed after often enough, making the goal feels good. I didn't have much trouble with tiredness, either. {Smile}

Over breakfast, I read Forward Day by Day. After breakfast, I got onto my computer. I watched short videos and read comics through lunch and a little afterwards, with only a little writing in my daily update until distinctly after lunch, Then I shifted to writing more. I even added my daily prayers at the end, since Sana had suggested I do so. I did read comics and check Discord in breaks. When I was done, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on the in-game auction house. Then I checked on my friends who ply the game. I found Dennis, Pierogies, and Kitten teaming. I joined them, first on Anka, my best badge collector, then on Aneira, my higher-level teen supergroup member, because they wanted a healer, and she was the decent healer who didn't have the badge they were working on yet. I made good progress on the badge before we split up. Then I worked ont eh in-game auction house, storage and crafting until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I watched a few videos, but not many before I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. I teamed up with Dennis on Aiofe, the character who worked on the badge a day or two before with him. We started doing my missions. After a couple, Dr. Faustus joined us. We entered one mission, and I left for a brief break. I came back just as they finished. Dr. Faustus teleported me out just as Dennis found a giant monster who gave him a badge. I couldn't get back in to get the badge because the mission was over. They tried to get me the badge be redoing the contact's story arc, but the part of that contact's stuff we could and did do together didn't have the right mission in it. Dr. Faustus really tried to find another way, but Aiofe is one level shy of the next easiest way to get the badge. I found one way she's barely high enough level for, but it's long, and requires more people, so we'll probably wait. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Next, I wrote a little in this. I also wrote about ideas for the story I've been working on for Creative Writing. After that, I made notes in this, taking a break to research the badge Aiofe didn't get. That's how I found out about the way she's barely high enough level for, but it's a lot of trouble. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King, which I wrote out in the update just previous to this one. {Smile}

Saturday, April 25, 2026

Daily Update, April 24, 2026

The night before Friday, I got to bed just after 2 am again. I tell myself at least it wasn't later, but I'm vaguely disappointed it wasn't before. That's my first goal. Second goal would be 1:45 am, and third goal, 1:30 am. Not sure I need earlier than that. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my ballroom dance class. It went very well. I think I got the last few Beginner's steps down and even told my teacher that I want to look at the earlier intermediate steps soon. It really helped that one student's girlfriend didn't come, so he partnered with me a lot. I also danced with the teacher a few times, including a demonstration where he showed the rest of the class how I "shadow dance," following his lead, including imitating him when that seems appropriate. A few congratulated me on dancing well after the exhibition. I also danced alone when they were both resting. After class, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

Later, checking my phone, I found a note from Sana, a dear friend from graduate school who lives on Maui. She asked me to call her. I did, and we had a nice chat. It was only half an hour, which is short for us, but the voices cut in and out when I was at my computer. At one point, she dropped out, and didn't come back, even when I tried to move to places with better reception. I eventually I hung up and phoned again, and we heard well while I was on the ramp in front of my house. However, when I came back inside to get ready for my villain supergroup meeting, it started cutting in and out again. So, we stopped, saying we'll have to do this again. {Smile}

After class, I got onto my computer. I browsed videos through lunch. Then I wrote up Thursday's daily update before calling Sana. After the phone call, I settled into City of Heroes: Homecoming by doing the weekend in-game auction house. Next, I went to the villain supergroup meeting just on time with melee Olga. I was sure they'd be going, but I was the first one there. I checked Discord to make sure it wasn't cancelled. By the time I got back. Dr. Faustus and our leader were both there. A gal soon came who'd been missing so long, I'm not sure she'd met Olga, or even Hezabell, who's been there longer. Seb came on Marius, too, but our frequent regular was missing. We teamed up and did most of an urban fantasy themed story arc my Olga had. We stopped just before the end because Dr. Faustus and the leader had to go. We can continue next time. Afterwards, I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting on Olga while talking with Shepherd and Kitten. Then I checked on my friends who play the game, finishing shortly before dinner. During dinner, I read Forward Day by Day. {Smile}

After dinner, I watched a couple of short videos and read a comic before I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. I found Dennis and Kitten helping Shepherd with some badges and joined them. We did several missions, making good progress on a long and difficult badge, at least for my character and Shepherd's. Along the way, a friend of Dennis's joined us. Then Kitten left, needing to rest. Eventually, Dennis and his friend left. Next, Shepherd and I talked. I showed him a couple of tutorials and told him about the sequels to one of them, which are only unlocked when you finish the immediate prequel. Eventually we said goodbye. I wrote a little in this, then broke and checked Cross Stitch World. Then I made notes in this, taking a few short breaks. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King.

Sana suggested sharing them here, so here they are:

I've altered the Lord's prayer at the suggestion of a book I read part of a while back. They suggested personalizing it:

Our Father in heaven, holy be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today fully enough bread.

Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us,

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen

Saint Francis's prayer is pretty much a standard version, but less well known:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me sow love,

        where there is injury, pardon

        Where there is discord, union

        where there is doubt faith

        where there is despair, hope

        where there is darkness, light

        where there is sadness, joy

Grant that I might not so much seek to be consoled as to console,

        to be understood as to understand

        to be loved as to love

For it is in giving that we receive

        it is in pardoning that we are pardoned

        and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

And the motto of the Daughters of the King

For His sake...

I am but one, but I am one.

I cannot do everything, but I can do something.

What I can do, I ought to do.

What I ought to do, by the grace of God, I will do.

Lord, what would you have me do?

Daily Update, April 23, 2026

The night before Thursday, I went to bed a little before 2 am. I got up at 9 am, as usual. I didn't have much trouble with tiredness. However, I'm suspicious that some of my tiredness has been dehydration. I checked, and tiredness can be a symptom, as can dizziness and being confused. So, I have something new to try when I feel generally off. {smile}

Starting during breakfast, I had my online counselling appointment. I thought it was a good session. We covered a fair bit of ground. {Smile}

After counselling, I wrote up my daily update. Then I read comics over lunch, and a bit afterwards. Next, I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. After that, I went back onto my computer and read a few more comics. I also made an online copy of the next story I want to work on for my class and sent copies to my cousin Kim and my housekeeper. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting I hadn't finished the previous night, and checked on my friends who play the game. I also talked with Pierogies and Dennis on Discord, the chat server. Next, I played by myself on the melee-ranged version of Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member until someone invited me to a team. I got a moderately high-level character I haven't played recently and did several missions on her with the team until I was called to dinner. I also checked on my friends who play the game again. After that, I read Forward Day by Day over dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I returned to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game, and worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting from the afternoon. Then I checked Discord and replied to friends there. Back in City of Heroes: Homecoming, I debated what to do next when Dr. Faustus said hi. We teamed up and did two related story arcs over much of the evening. I gained a level. Dr. Faustus warned me that I should stop a level sooner than I planned to, to avoid missing content I want to do. When we finished the second story arc, we said goodnight. I worked on the in-game auction house and storage. During that, Shepherd said hi. I hadn't talked with him in quite a while. He came back a week or two ago, after a long absence. We talked while I finished up. Then I joined him. I realized he didn't have a badge that improves a character that. I could help him get relatively quickly. We did that and I gave him a link to the Wiki to help him find others. We talked, then said goodnight. I wrote a little in this, then quickly shifted to making notes. My only break was to check Cross Stitch World and play briefly despite not meaning to. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 22, 2026

The night before Wednesday, I got to be a little after two. Yet I woke up early and even got out of bed a little before my alarm went off. I didn't feel particularly tired, either. I'm really not sure how that works, but I'll take it. {Smile}

A while after lunch, the Fire Ant Guy came by and treated our yard and basement for fire ants. They're his specialty. He doesn't exterminate anything else. I enjoyed talking while paying him. {Smile}

After dinner, my main nurse took me down to the Church of Holy Cross for my ballroom dance classes. The first part was bolero. I really like how that is coming along. Then we did Country two-step. It's done in a circle that keep progressing, and so far, every move is who turns when, and what direction we face. I managed to keep going, but I needed to steady myself after class. My main nurse took me home, too. I did Cross Stitch World much of the way down, and even more of the way back. {Smile}

After breakfast, I got onto my computer. I read an article or two and watched a few short videos. Then I switched to reading comics both short and shorter. After a while, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I worked on the auction house, storage and crafting that I didn't get done the night before. I also checked on my friends who play the game, both early in other stuff, and afterwards. Then I paused to talk with the Fire Ant Guy. When I came back, I checked on my friends again and found Dennis. I said hi, and we talked as we teamed up, with me switching to the melee-ranged Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member, and him switching to someone near her in level. We did a couple missions, getting both of our characters a level in the last one. Then Dennis left to take a walk. I did some auction house, storage and crafting that conveniently ended shortly before my main nurse called me to a slightly early dinner. {Smile}

After I got back from my class, I got onto my computer again. I wrote a little of this before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Then I collected a badge on melee-ranged Olga. I also talked with Dr. Faustus on Discord. I was delighted to learn they hope to come back soon. At their suggestion, I set up a couple of contacts to start soon. and did a hunt for one to get a normal mission. Next, I started to check the long-ranged version of Olga. Soon, the player who is new in both of my supergroups said hi. We talked, and I joined her to keep her company and talk more until she left for bed. After that, I wrote more of this and read lots of comics. Then I checked Cross Stitch World and played a little of it before I made notes in this. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 21, 2026

The night before Tuesday, I got to bed a bit before 2 am. At least I got a rest as long as I wanted when I got up at 9am Tuesday morning. I felt reasonably well-rested through the day. What blood sugar trouble I had was rarely tiredness or sleepiness, which tends to make me wonder if it's really blood sugar, or insufficient sleep. {Smile}

After breakfast, I realized I had the monthly meeting, but by the time my substitute relief nurse and I finished getting ready and left the house I'd barely have time to say hi before I left for my creative writing class. So instead, I asked my nurser to drop me off early at Kamana Senior Center for my creative writing class. I got there as our teacher and other students began to arrive, which gave me time to talk to my teacher about how I really don't want to abandon developing original characters by switching to memoirs. Turns out that she's concerned with how little I seem to write. I rarely do more than my daily updates, and I don't show her my daily updates, since they're just journalling. She'd be happy to see another story as long as it actually moves. I'll try that. Class went well. I even got more into the freewriting, as it gave me insight into some characters that I created a while back. {Smile}

After class, my substitute relief nurse took me home. On the way, I got a call from my cousin Kim in Georgia. We talked about family and personal news. She is interested in seeing a story I'm thinking about working on. We finished the phone call not long after I got home. Then I talked a while with my housekeeper, who had already started working. The house is definitely better for her attentions. She's also interested in my story. {Smile}

I read Forward Day by Day and a bit of a novel over breakfast. Then, after the phone call with Kim and talk with my housekeeper, I got onto my computer. I watched videos and read comics to settle in. Next, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming and went to the teen supergroup meeting distinctly early. I passed our leader int eh lobby, and went to the lounge, where I found Nyxy's character and another character, so I started to roleplay with them. Others arrived, including a character of Jenny's Player, and the fellow who came when it was only him and me, though our leader stayed in the lobby. Our roleplaying became quite involved when someone came in and stated talking with our leader. We learned that one of our characters has a nemesis. After that, we ran a particularly quick taskforce. Most left after the taskforce, but Nyxy, the gal with the nemesis, and I stayed. At least I stayed until I got called for dinner. {Smile}

I read part of a novel over dinner. After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming, where I went back to Aneira. I found a note from Dennis, and we started talking. I also found Nyxy and the other player were there, but they left soon after. So, I switched to Seameownt, the character Kitten designed and joined Dennis. who ran the mission we didn't finish the other night We got Seameownt a badge, then said goodnight. I switched to melee-ranged Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member, and hunted until I got a badge. Then I switched back to Seameownt for a hunt. Next, I stopped to write a little in this and make a lot of notes in here. I did take a few breaks to check characters on Homecoming. I did some in-game auction house and storage on Seameownt, and storage on Aneira and Olga. The rest could wait. I also checked Cross Stitch World. I texted my housekeeper and Kim for their emails for the stories. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 20, 2026

The night before Monday, I got to bed a little after 1:45. I got up at 9:00 am as usual I had distinct trouble with blood sugar, but it wasn't all tiredness. In fact, it started with light headedness during my dance class... not good, but it's reassuring that it really is blood sugar, not poor sleep. {Smile}

After breakfast, my substitute relief nurse took me down to Auntie Sally's Luau Hale for my first Timer's Line Dance class. when I walked in, they hadn't started, but they moved to the dance floor as I got to that part of the room. You'd think they'd been waiting for me, but they never did before, so it must have been coincidence. I had to step out when I got a call. It was the head of the nursing company, telling me that my regular relief nurse is finally better after months of illness. He's ready to start with one day a week next Tuesday. I'm glad he's starting slowly. I hope he doesn't push himself before he's ready. After that, I went back to class. It went well until I got lightheaded during one song. Fortunately, a little package of lightly salted almonds helped me get back to normal enough to rejoin the class. After class, my substitute relief nurse took me to the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens. I got a liliko'i (passionfruit) popsicle, and a calamansi popsicle. The gal cut both open, so I ended up eating one right after the other on the way home. {Smile}

Over breakfast, I read Forward Day by day. Then after class, I got onto my computer. I browsed articles and videos, then shifted to reading things on City of Heroes: Homecoming. First, I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I checked the in-game auction house. Right after that, Dr. Faustus said hi. We started talking, and I realized how much I'd missed them. I quickly finished and shared my daily update while trying to team up with Dr. Faustus. Once I finished with my daily update, I was able to concentrate on teaming. We did a few missions, finishing melee ranged Olga's, my lower-level villain supergroup member's, last contact I want to do at her level, although Dr. Faustus disconnected every time we left a mission, just about. They came back and rejoined, so it didn't seem too bad to me. Then we found a mission where they disconnected three or four times just trying to enter. We finished that mission decisively. Fortunately, it was the last for that level. Then I turned on experience points. We did a hunt and a mission, then Dr. Faustus left, planning how to try to fix their connection. I did some hunts. Next, I did the in-game auction house, storage and crafting until dinner. {Smile}

After dinner, I went back to City of heroes: Homecoming. I checked the in-game auction house on a few characters, then picked Seameownt, the character Kitten designed. I discovered they could get a few hunts and did some of them until I realized Dennis was on. We teamed up and did several of his missions until he left for bed. Then I did some hunts. Next, I did Seameownt's auction house, crafting, and storage. After that, I read a comic before I began writing in this. I switched to making notes in this, checking my characters in City of Heroes: Homecoming a few times. I also checked Cross Stitch World once. I ended my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 19, 2026

The night before Sunday, I found myself at a good stopping place unusually early in City of Heroes: Homecoming. So, I stopped to write my daily update. I got seriously distracted by comics but realized that treating overheating and blood sugar really helped. I still managed to get more written before switching to making notes, and then I got off early enough to get to bed barely after 1:30 am. That was great, since I got up at 8:30 because church started at 9 am. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me down to church. We arrived just before the sermon, so I heard all of it this time. It was morning prayer, so we didn't have communion. Still, it was a nice service. After the service, I ran into my cousin Babs, and her hanai (adopted) granddaughter. They had a good spread for lunch on the lanai, since we had one service instead of two. We sat together, my main nurse. Two other new folks sat with us, too, and we found we had a lot in common. I think we might often sit together. When lunch was done, my main nurse took me back home. {Smile}

After we got back, I got onto my computer. I browsed articles and videos and read comics. I also finished writing up Saturday's daily update. Then I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. I said hi to Pierogies, but he didn't respond. I finished the auction house, storage and crafting left over from the night before on the ranged version of Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member. Then I left to clean myself up with the help of my main nurse. After that, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I got the melee-ranged Olga and did two or three missions in a story arc by myself. By then I was thoroughly bored with playing by myself. It can get pretty monotonous without friends or fellow players to liven things up. I checked my friends who play the game again and found that Seb had come on. I looked for him and had to ask where he was a couple of times before I found him. My Olga joined his Marius, and he introduced me to three friends he was with. I'd met at least one before, but not often. I roleplayed with them until dinner, excusing myself in-character as well as out of character to go find dinner. During dinner, I read Forward Day by Day and browsed another book I found. {Smile}

After dinner, I went back to City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Then I checked where I'd left Seb's Marius. I found him in the same place, with only the friend I'm certain I met before. I roleplayed with them until first the friend then Seb left. Then I went back to soloing missions. While doing that, I talked with Dennis, who said he'd be back after a walk. I finished the story arc, then realized I'd missed a message from Dennis, who'd already left for the evening. It was old when I found it. So was an invitation to a strike force from Divi, though not as old. Divi had started without me. I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. Divi invited me to fight a giant monster. We fought a second giant monster at my request before the team broke up. I worked on the in-game auction house, storage and crafting. After that, I began working on some badges on Olga. I also wrote much of this, with breaks mainly to work on the badges until I until I got my goal badge for now. Then I checked the in-game auction house on a few characters. I also took a break for Cross Stitch World. I switched to notes before the end the update. I ended my evening with the Lord's prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 18, 2026

The night before Saturday, I didn't get to bed until a while before 2:15 am. I had hoped I'd gotten to where I was earlier than that, at least. Also, I was pretty tired until I had rested a lot in the car and took a shorter than usual nap. I noticed I had particular trouble staying on tack when I was at my most tired. That's a common reason for me to run late, so I'm trying to move my writing and note taking in my daily updates earlier. I don't' like to go to bed before I finish those, so let's try to stay on task with them more. I hope that will be easier if I do them earlier, when I'm hopefully less tired. {Smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me down to the branch of Clinical Laboratories on Lanihuli Street. It's one of four branches in Hilo, but it's one of only two that are open on Saturday, and both close at noon, so I wanted to be sure to get there well before they closed. I gave them the sample needed for a medical test ordered by my doctor. Then my main nurse took me down to the ice cream parlor in Liliu'okalani Gardens. They were open again, so we went in. I picked out a sweet potato popsicle and ate it on the way to Safeway. There, I rested in the car while my main nurse went in for something we needed. After that, we went home. On all legs of the trip except the one between Liliu'okalani Gardens and Safeway, I drowsed in the car. It helped me feel less tired, but not completely so. {Smile}

At breakfast, I read Forward Day by Day. Also, My main nurse pointed out that I was tired enough to be particularly easily distracted. After we got home, I got onto my computer, and browsed articles and videos while I ate lunch. Then I read one comic before realizing that while I was less tired, I wasn't wide awake, and I was easily distracted. So, I lay down for a nap. I did wake up a little earlier than usual. Next, I went back to my computer and wrote up Friday's daily update. After that, I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. then I did one mission on the melee-ranged Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member. I bored enough by the time I got done with it, I stopped to chat with Dennis and Kitten, and separately with Seb, all on Discord, the chat server. Seb came into the game, so I joined him on my melee-ranged Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member for some light roleplaying. When his favorite cafe opened, we went to it to continue light roleplaying, though I don't speak up much in that setting. when I got called for dinner, I warned them I'd be away because of it. {Smile}

I read that novel again over dinner. Then I went back to my computer and City of Heroes: Homecoming. I apologized for zoning out as Olga, letting them know I was back. I tried to get into it, and added a few things, but I was still awfully quiet. I eventually excused myself, apologizing for not adding more, and left. I checked on my friends who play the game and said hi to Ulty and Jenny's player. I talked with Jenny's player and learned she was doing missions with light roleplaying. I asked if I could join and got a character near their level. We ran a few missions until the group broke up. Then I did some auction house, storage and badge collecting before I switched to melee-ranged Olga. I did two missions on her before I felt tired and stopped to do minimal storage. Next, I began writing in this, but found I was easily distracted by videos. I switched to making notes in this. I also treated overheating, then blood sugar, which both helped the tiredness. I still watched videos, but at least I felt less tired and distracted. Eventually, I stopped and finished notes here without feeling scattered, finished significantly earlier, which is good, since church starts early. I know I won't get there on time, but I hope I won't feel too tired because of getting up earlier to get there before it is over. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 17, 2026

The night before Friday, I got to bed a bit after 1:45 am. Slightly earlier, but not a lot. I do want to get better, but it looks like I may not do so quickly. {small smile}

After breakfast, my main nurse took me to Kamana Senior Center for my ballroom dance class. I arrived early enough to get in a bit of visiting before we started dancing. We reviewed the steps from last week, and I got two in particular down better. I danced with the teacher, his assistant, two other guys, two or three other gals, and by myself when I didn't have a partner, which I normally do. The assistant showed me two steps beyond what the teacher had shown us. Then I got the teacher to show me those two steps, because I do feel I know them better after he does. I'm pretty happy being two steps ahead of the other beginners. We also have intermediate and advanced students who are way ahead of me. {Smile}

After class, I asked my main nurse to pick up a medication I needed, but Safeway's pharmacy was closed for lunch. So, we went home, and my nurse got them later. I played Cross Stitch World when I was in the car. {Smile}

At home, I got onto my computer. I browsed articles and videos, then read comics. Next, I wrote some of Thursday's daily update. I stopped to go into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game and went to my villain supergroup meeting on the melee-ranged Olga, my lower-level villain supergroup member. I found Seb, Dr. Faustus, and our leader roleplaying when I got there. Our long-time regular and the new gal joined us. We roleplayed inducting the new gal into our group. Then we finished a story arc of mine and started the next in the post-apocalyptic part of an alternate world. Dr. Faustus and the long-time regular disconnected often, so they left in disgust. Seb and the new gal left to roleplay in a bar. I did a series of talk-missions on Olga until I found the next regular mission. Next, I did a hunt on Olga alone, followed by some auction house, storage and crafting on her. After that, I did my beginning of the weekend auction house on her and another character before I went to dinner. During dinner, I read Forward Day by Day, and a began a novel I recently got. {Smile}

After dinner, I read web comics. Then I finished Thursday's daily update before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Next, I did the beginning of the weekend auction house on one more character. I also talked to someone I haven't seen for years. After that, I did a mission on melee-ranged Olga, followed by more auction house and storage on her. I also talked with Nox on Discord on and off through much of the evening. I shifted to Aneira, my higher-level teen supergroup member, and began a hunt on her. Dennis said hi, and we teamed up. We finished the hunt, then did a mission of mine, finishing a story arc. Next was a hunt, so I suggested we shift to his stuff. We did two of his missions from the same contact before he left for bed. I did some auction house, storage and crafting. followed by the hunt I didn't want to do with Dennis. I had trouble finding the right critters, finishing later than I meant to. Next, I wrote a tiny bit and made lots of notes in this, with one break to check Cross Stitch World. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}

Daily Update, April 16, 2026

The night before Thursday, I got to bed a few minutes before 2 am. I got up around 9 am as usual. at least that's first goal met. {Smile}

During breakfast, I started my online video counselling session. I had no trouble with my insurance this time; I almost never do. It was a good session. We talked about some things that have been on my mind since my creative writing class the day before. I feel better about them now. {Smile}

In the afternoon, my main nurse took me down to my doctor's office. My doctor's eldest son served as my nurse, since the son has applied to medical school, and my doctor's usual nurse is still on a trip. My doctor and I talked about a few different concerns, with some input from my main nurse as well. I am happy my nurse comes with me for appointments. Two extra ears are very welcome, with my severe hearing loss, even with two hearing aids. I like the plans my doctor developed to try next. Afterwards, my main nurse took me home. {Smile}

After counselling, I wrote up Wednesday's daily update, with relatively short beaks to browse videos during lunch. Then I read web comics until my doctor's appointment. After we came back from the doctor, I got onto my computer. I read some web comics. Then I sent some notes in Discord, the chat server, before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. I checked on my friends who play the game. Dennis came in not long after, but we just talked and fooled around. He showed off a knockback power he'd souped up. Then he asked if I'd be around in half an hour before leaving to take a walk. I worked on getting badges on my eighth best badge collector, increasing her lead on my ninth best badge collector, which is a bit narrow. Dennis returned around my dinner time. We talked just a few minutes before I was called to dinner. {Smile}

I tried to read Forward Day by Day over dinner, but the TV distracted me too much. I read it afterwards, understanding it much more easily. After dinner, I cleaned myself up with the help of my main nurse. During this, I had some lower gastrointestinal tract trouble, which passed fairly quickly with the help of the medicine my main nurse found. Then I got onto my computer. I read web comics before I went into City of Heroes: Homecoming. There, I checked on my friends who play the game. To my surprise, Dennis was still there. We teamed up and did a couple of his missions before he left for bed. I did a hunt on my own and started a second hunt. Next, kitten said mew. We teamed up and did several of my missions. After a while, Pierogis joined us. We did two more of my missions, though I didn't finish the contact, or the story arc. I squeezed in a tiny bit of writing in this during a lull, and I checked Cross Stitch World during another lull, but mostly concentrated on the game. After we said goodnight, I did a tiny bit of auction house, storage and crafting. Then I made notes in this with almost no breaks. I finished my evening with the Lord's Prayer, Saint Francis's Prayer, and the motto of the Daughters of the King. {Smile}
